I think this world cup has not been one of the best so far, certainly not one anybody will ever remember like ones of the past.

Unless of course it suddenly improves.

It's a titanic clash that's for sure. Lee Peltier left the club last week and returned to Huddersfield Town, won't be missed, had a bad time at Elland Road. Who knows what this coming season will bring? Mid table mediocrity I guess.

Bye bye McCormack.

I was talking to a Leeds-based Northern Rail contact on the telephone yesterday and he reports a scurrilous rumour that is circulating that the Leeds United playing squad have been told to bring packed lunches to the training sessions and also to wash their own kit, to save the club money...

Not quite a secret. It is all over the papers. Do a search for "Leeds United packed lunch" on google and you will see plenty of publicity for that.

Either that Massimo Cellini is a real stingy bugger or that the situation is really dire at Leeds.

After Hyde managed a mid-table place in their first season in the Conference Premiership, all the best midfield players and strikers went off to "pastures new". We all know what happened in the following season, last year...<(<(

I don't think Oldham will go same way as Hyde did last season as Oldham have brought in new players while some of players from last season have gone, Joseph Mills from Burnley who was on loan at Oldham last season have sign for us, defender Brian Wilson who was at Colchester and Midfield Mike Jones who was at Crawley have also sign for us and all of them three players that sign came by free transfer.

Also have a gallery of new stand that they build at Boundary Park which meant be opening at start of season but now I think is due to open at start of next year. (maybe in time for Doncaster match on 10th Jan or Notts County match on 31st Jan)

Do you remember Oldham Athletic building a stand with the monies received for winning a "Fair Play" national football scheme quite some time ago now....or is my age giving me away again ?

I don't know which world cup you are watching but this is the most entertaining world cup I have ever seen.

It's been an overwhelming view worldwide that this is the case as well, so I'm slightly puzzled too.

Even the 30 minutes or so of extra time in the Belgium v USA game far surpassed many previous World Cups in their entirety!

By the sounds of things, looks like Salisbury FC won't exist for much longer, a shame :(

Salisbury expected to be expelled from the Conference on Friday unless a miracle happens. Sad days.

http://www.salisburyjournal.co.uk/news/11309055.Mark_Winter_quits_Salisbury_City/

Salisbury Journal said:
Mark Winter quits Salisbury City

THE owner of struggling Salisbury City has resigned.

Mark Winter has stepped down from his position after purchasing the club last month with Moroccan partner Otail Touzar.

Mr Winter, 47, says he has ploughed more than £75,000 into the club, while claiming Mr Touzar, who is the major backer with 98 per cent shares, is yet to invest any money.

Over the past few weeks, Mr Winter said he had been working tirelessly to get Mr Touzar to hand over his shares but, despite help from legal advisors; he has been unable to do so.

The club has until 5pm on Friday to pay its football creditors and secure a bond of £50,000 to avoid expulsion from Conference South.

A winding up order from HMRC of £29,000 is also due, next week, otherwise Whites will fold entirely.

Where do they find these overseas morons? Clearly a Moroccan fantasist. Munto Finance, anyone?

What do members feel about the current negotiations between Liverpool and Barcelona over a possible sale of Luis Suarez ?

Fantastic. Get rid of a liability and have plenty of money to spend on depth in the squad.

As a Liverpool fan, although a great player, I'd be glad to see the back of him. Constantly bringing the club into disrepute. Banned for half a season is no use to anyone. Might as well cash in.

Yeah, time to cash in now. He is one of the best in the world on his day but if he hadn't been banned at the start of last season we may have won the league. So long and thanks for the memories.

Instead of the Chilean - why don't they ask for Lionel Messi as the "makeweight" :p

If what is reported is true that Adidas, Niike and Warrior are bidding for the new Manchester United kit contact on a 10 year deal after the current Nike contract run out, with a figure of circa £600 million being quoted, then the lunatics will be proved to be well and truly running the asylum..

Boundary Park home to Oldham Athletic will now be know as SportsDirect.com Park after Sports Direct have sign five year contract with Latics.

Anyone want to read more on this can read it off this link.

No doubt it will still be called Boundary Park by all the supporters, Broadfield Stadium Crawley is now the Checkatrade.com Stadium, although it's still and always will be called Broadfield Stadium, the sponsorship money helps the club a bit of course .....

Half true, the players returned to training early and all the catering staff etc are still on holiday. So for 2 weeks it was packed lunches and wash your own kit.

There is a lot of turmoil though

Barcelona: La Liga side to train at St George's Park

Barcelona will prepare for the new La Liga season at St George's Park, England's National Football Centre.
They will train at the Staffordshire base from 28 July to 2 August.
The Spanish giants' full squad is not yet known because of World Cup commitments, but it would mean stars like Lionel Messi and Neymar training on the pitches often used by England...

Germany into the last 4 with a 1-0 win over France.

Could 2014 be the year they win the trophy the first time as Germany rather than West Germany?

Indeed, the World Cup rather than the Euros.

Brazil 1-up against Colombia

And going on to win 2-1 - scraping through.

I keep saying they are there for the taking and they keep winning

Perhaps Germany can turn them over on their own manor (hopefully) :p

Germany v Netherlands sounds good to me....however equally appealing would be Brazil v Argentina ....:p

As a European I must hope for the former with The Netherlands winning.

Brazil scrapping through with the one man advantage. Clearly nothing at all phishy with this tournament, Brazil's name has already engraved on the trophy and if you look hard enough, Brazil v Argentina is listed as the final on the FIFA website.

Am I the only one who wondered why it took the referee so long to manage to dislodge the yellow card from his pocket in the Brazil v Columbia match and then to actually show it ?

I didn't know that there were so many interesting versions of the body-check and at times, especially in second half, it was like watching a little-known version of Martial Arts..<(
