69% of folk think Suarez dived according to the MOTD poll - a result promptly dismissed as wrong by Mr Linekar (without saying as such) because it disagreed with his opinion. That is the sort of arrogance I cannot abide

I don't recall exactly what he said (it'll be on iPlayer tomorrow), but the impression I had was that the pundits had already said 'definite foul' and he simply reiterated that, but I could be wrong.

And how many of the 69% said that a) because Suarez "is" a "diver" and b) because they do not favour Liverpool? Democracy in this sort of issue is far from being the best solution ;).

Its Man City if anyone who are paying the referees this season. Man Utd certainly are not!

Still think its fergies fault he left Moyes with a horrendous squad. But unfortunately, he did not amend in the transfer market, so maybe both their faults. Certainly fergie has done well keeping himself a saint despite creating an extremely mediocre Utd Squad.

The Vidic one was debatable, he did go in with plenty of aggression and was very rash so he was risking the red.

The Rafael one was just horrific, should have been 10 reds. Added to that, Valencia was very fortunate not to receive a 2nd yellow on two occasions. On balance more things actually went in Manchester United’s favour.

I watched the Leeds v Leicester game on record last night and noticed that Luke Varney got poleaxed and the player who did it didn’t even get a yellow, right in front of the assistant ref. Makes Smith’s red card last week look very weak.

MOTD said that in a later interview Moyes said he felt that Rafael was a red card, and Vidic was a yellow. On the MOTD interview Moyes said he hadn't seen Rafael's challenge.

As a neutral in all Premiership matters (being the lone supporter of Hyde on this forum), I cannot for the life of me see why only one particular Premiership mid-table side should be subject to the amount of post-match scrutinty that there seems to be on this forum.

I see very little examination of the fouls committed by the playing staff of Southampton, Hull and other mid-table sides in postings.

Possibly to do with the profile of the club?
Or maybe due to the number of supporters of a particular club, A poll to find the most supported team would be interesting, have the 20 premier league teams and "other" as options for the poll.

Can you organise a new thread on the General Discussion forum, with an associated poll, to cover that most interesting point that you have made.

Anyone else watching tonight? I've just arrived at my hotel so have nothing better to do.

Bad day already for WBA with their sponsor pulling the plug at the end of the season due to Anelka's antics.

Regarding the poll he said something like "You have the right to disagree" or "You're entitled to your opinion" - I can't remember exactly and I admit I am not the most neutral person here but it sounded condescending to me.

And how many of the 69% said that a) because Suarez "is" a "diver" and b) because they do not favour Liverpool? Democracy in this sort of issue is far from being the best solution ;).

Impossible to tell and it's very plausible that a) and/or b) are correct. It's also plausible that the number is low. I believe this is the reason why it's called a straw poll ;)

It's more of a sad day - they could have at least waited until the FA investigation had been completed. Perhaps Tesco will be their next sponsor ;)

As for the game I shan't be watching (neither Villa nor WBA are on often enough to justify the expense) but I shall be tuning into BBC WM.

Yes I will do later this evening, will be an interesting thing to see and may explain certain teams getting much more talked about.

Perhaps it should be expected from this thread, but there's been a lot of talk about these two Manchester United fouls at the weekend even though both players have been punished and both fouls happened with the result already beyond doubt.

But what about these two fouls from David Luiz? Committed early enough in the match that the referee's decision could have altered the result of the match. The first was bizarrely given as a Chelsea free kick, but Luiz was booked for the second.

I seem to recall a recent match involving Manchester United where an opposition player had punched a Manchester United player in the face late on in the match and escaped punishment. After that incident it was suggested the player should not have been punished as he wouldn't have been frustrated if not for an earlier incident that went in favour of United!

Using that logic can we say that Vidic and Rafael should have escaped punishment because they were just frustrated about the result which might have been different if Chelsea were down to ten men?

Of course not.

Today I learnt that two wrongs make a right. Your silence on the suggests the referee's decision was just

Your post isn't very clear.

Your post implied that because Chelsea committed a couple of dubious tackles and were let off so should Manchester United. The second sentence was pointing out you said very little about the decision themselves.

So numerous posters will post that a decision went in favour of Manchester United, all while completely ignoring decisions that went against them.

But when I attempt to bring balance by pointing out decisions against them, while still acknowledging the decision in favour of United and even saying that the United players should have been punished, I get accused of 'silence' over that matter and believing that two wrongs make a right.

I just said your silence is indicative of the referee getting the decision right regarding the Manchester United players. I said, in another sentence, that by pointing out Chelsea's error it implies Manchester United should have got off scot free albeit that Chelsea should have been punished

The manager has already confirmed they were correct fouls. He just thought the colours of the cards were the wrong way around.

Can't help but wonder if Man U will have found their A-game by 5th April when they're away at St James' Park. Something tells me they won't and I'll be smiling all day <D

29th March and 11th May also look like interesting games to me, I'll be keeping an eye on the scores whilst at work for sure on those days :D

With only one point gained for drawing at West Brom on Monday evening, Everton have missed out on the chance to be in the top four Premiership positions.

However, it is noticeable that there is now a five point gap between the Premiership 6th and 7th league positions.

Southampton in 9th are almost the sole mid table team, isolated in points.
Newcastle are 5 points above Southampton, with Aston Villa 7 points behind Southampton. Villa are only 6 points above the bottom.

Blackpool sack Paul Ince as Manager, along with Alex Rae & Steve Thompson.

Barry Ferguson is expected to take over as Caretaker until a new Manager is appointed.

After my betting exploits regarding the first leg of the League Cup semi-final, I have been forwarded a tweet (actually originating from the Hyde FC account!) which is a photo of a board in a betting shop window. The display reads:

A £10 bet on
J. COLE
to score first and
WEST HAM
to win 7-0
returns
KEYS TO THE SHOP!

Unfortunately it is on my phone (I can't access Twitter via work IT), so if anyone else finds it, they may like to post it on here.

I saw Sam Allardyce on Sky this morning saying it was "unlikely" West Ham would go through.

I think "unlikely" will be this years biggest understatement already.

Not looking good for poor old Sam it's currently 0-8 to Man City.

Home to Hayes & Yeading tonight.

Hopefully not another 0-4 thrashing. :(

Not tonight, match abandoned!

I was there Saturday for our win, what is going on with those turnstiles? Is everyone in Dorchester skinny?

It appears that Nicholas Anelka will now face FA retribution, from what I overheard on a radio report on a bus journey in Macclesfield today.

Indeed he has. And its a funny one really. The bloke who created it says it is not anti-semitic but other people have. Have they now jumped on this just like a certain political group jumped on the Swaztika some years back and now when people see it they only think of the Nazis?(Godwins I know but its relevant)

Then again today http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25837998 this happenned from a prominant Jewish fella.

Nah mate, I don't think what you said should invoke Godwins Law. The Nazis pinched loads of symbols and what have you off various people. That said isn't Anelkas mate known for being a bit anti semitic?
