Oldham are in action tonight in JPT SF Northern section, win tonight and Latics will only be two games away from playing at Wembley 
but they are playing against Chesterfield who already beat Oldham in last three games in this competition and won this competition back in 2012, I'm hopeful that Latics will beat Chesterfield but it may end up in penalty shootout which hopeful Latics players are up for it if it come to that.

Oldham are in action tonight in JPT SF Northern section, win tonight and Latics will only be two games away from playing at Wembley
The match finished 1-1. Chesterfield won 6-5 on penalties.

Looks like it was a false dawn for Villa following the Fulham performance and result.
Martin Jol may have kept his job if they'd played Villa a week earlier
Not really a false dawn (especially compared to this time last season). Our run of results hasn't been that good either (see the draw against Sunderland), we've beaten a few teams we shouldn't have on paper and also lost some we should have won. The better team won on Sunday and we're still sitting comfortably in mid-table.
On the subject of false dawns perhaps one should look not too far from VIlla Park to the Hawthorns...
Here's hoping for a cup run - or at least to beat the Blades (Lowton hat-trick please

Chesterfield
(third time in row that Chesterfield have knock Oldham out of JPT competition) I through Oldham was better team last night and we should had penalty in 90th mins but ref give corner instead, oh well beat Mansfield next Tuesday in FA Cup Second round replay and we can looking forward to play Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday 5th January in third round.
No surprise that Man Utd v Swansea match is one of five matches that going to be on TV on third round weekend.
Blackburn v Man City, Nottingham Forest v West Ham and Derby v Chelsea will also be on TV too.

Well, that's a brilliant move from the FA.
Nottingham Forest v West Ham United will now kick-off at 12:00 on the 5th January.
Derby County v Chelsea will now kick-off at 14:15 on the 5th January.
So, two sets of opposition fans, where there is no love lost between them, will both potentially be departing the same London station. The only possible saving grace being that the first service from St Pancras won't get to Nottingham in time for kick-off.
It would surely make more sense for the game in Nottingham to be the evening kick-off on Saturday, and the Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur game (an intense local derby) to kick off early on Sunday, thus reducing the time for fans to consume copious amounts of alcohol and to minimise the potential for trouble between fans of other clubs.

Another inept performance by Arsenal in Europe tonight, all they needed to do was draw. Now watch them get humiliated in the knock out stages by Barcelona or Real Madrid. Every season they do this lead the table until the last game and finish bloody second.
If they play like this on Sunday they will get spanked just like our friends from the wrong end of Seven Sisters road did.
Arsenal are the most frustrating to team to follow, just when you think they are in the process of doing something good they lose to a Mr Joe Average team and have us fans worrying again about finishing in the top 4 again.

As expected the Port Vale vs Plymouth game has been moved to Sunday afternoon with kick off at 1500. A nightmare for most supporters from West Devon & Cornwall who might be travelling to the game by train.
First train from Plymouth on the Sunday arrives at Stoke around an hour before kick off not leaving much time to get to Vale Park or any time for lunch or a pint! What if the train is delayed? I bet kick-off won't be put back.
Last direct train back to Plymouth leaves around an hour after end of game so necessitates another mad dash back to S-O-T station.
Some people will be working on Monday so will get back very late and no option of an overnight stay which would be an option had the game taken place on Saturday.
Does the FA realise all these issues when mucking about with kick off times / days? Obviously not, the game is not on TV so why not switch the Stoke vs Leicester game to the Sunday as the distances for away supporters to travel is relatively small.
According to postings on an Argyle supporters website the kick off time/ date for the Stoke and Port Vale games were decided by a toss of a coin! The FA never consulted with either club!
No thoughts for the away supporters at all despite please by Argyle to play the game on Saturday.
I know Port Vale vs Plymouth is far from a glamour 3rd round tie however Devon & Cornwall Argyle supporters have been severly hampered by this.
A ridiculous decision. :-x

He is now 29 years old and a product of the youth programme at Oldham Athletic. From 2006 to 2011, he was with Stockport County, who loaned him to Darlington for a spell. He is a hard worker but needs other team players to match his work-rate, which frankly is not the case this season at Hyde.
Considering his age and Hyde's "magnificent points haul of 3" in the Skrill Conference (
) so far this season, it is most probably time for him to drop down a division to a team who are enjoying some success this season and next season could well see Hyde and Altrincham exchanging divisions.I am surprised that your fellow Altrincham supporter, gnolife, did not make this posting.
On a different subject I have noted that for a few Liverpool aways this season the club have closed ticket sales as sold out when there are more tickets left and presumably given said tickets to the corporates. Swansea, Arsenal and Spurs being points in question. I am guessing Chelsea will go the same way, possibly not Man City. Just to clarify, I mean the way LFC are selling their away allocation, nothing against the other clubs I mentioned.

It is never decided on a toss of a coin, Stoke City had the coice of day to play and choose Saturday, if the same happens in another cup round then its Port Vale's turn, it alternates each time 'rivals' play at home in the cup the same weekend

Speaking of Liverpool FC and tickets I would just like to say that the "secondary market" sometimes comes up with a bargain.
Butts has bagged a couple of Hospitality Tickets for the Hull game on NYD at a cheaper price than LFC would charge.
I know why because all the "Prawn Sandwich" brigade will be hung over after quaffing all the vintage Bollinger on NYE and unable/unfit to attend

Don't deal with the secondary market but thanks for the suggestion, we all help each other out. I was talking about the away games, all sorted for Hull at home.
I wouldn't be talking about Prawn Sandwich brigade if you have hospitality tickets either. I gave away a ticket to West Ham to make sure a Liverpool fan went and got a free one for Man U at home for the same reason. Doesn't get much cheaper than that.
In fact part of the problem I mentioned is the club giving the tickets to Corporates for free who then sell them on to their mates or what have you for less than the going rate and just pocket the cash having spent nothing.

At least the clubs system has come into the "internet age" these days. It's not that long ago that you had to send a fax in and lord knows what in order to get The Reds Bar etc.
I don't buy at full price, every now and then they have a special offer for whatever reason and e-mail me. I've seen Reds as low as £50 !!

8 minutes injury time in Scunthorpe's match, and predictably, Wycombe equalise with virtually the last kick of the game. Yes, there was an injury hold up for a couple of minutes in the second half, but where did the other 6 minutes come from?
