I have just been looking at all the Manchester United results in all matches including pre-season friendlies that have been played since last seasons 5-5 home draw in the final match of last season when SAF was in charge.
Of the 14 matches that have been played under Moyes' guidance, they have won 6, drawn 3, lost 5. What will be a financial benchmark will be the ability to proceed through the current group stages of the Champions League, with the financial rewards that accrue for progression in that particular European competition.

Steve Bruce has done well everywhere he's been. Birmingham, Wigan, Sunderland were all finishing higher than would be expected for those clubs whilst he was manager. He guided Birmingham to finish higher than Villa for the first time in 30 odd years. He took Wigan to a 11th place finish (Was that their best?)
David Moyes has said he thinks they are 5 or 6 quality players short of being a champions league success. Report is on numerous sports news sites, sorry unable to link to them due to technical problems.

I have only included the clubs I can remember him at, I've only really took a wider interest in the last 10 years or so, since I've been grown up, before as a child it was my team only. I think Palace are doomed this season, a lot of the players seemed to have no heart.

Sometimes football clubs can make quite a good start to a season, then their world falls in on them. Stenhousemuir had reached second place in Scottish League One and had defeated Dundee in the quarter-final of the Scottish Challenge Cup, but meeting Rangers this weekend away from home must have been something of a culture shock, as they were well and truly "taken apart" by Rangers to the tune of an 8-0 defeat. That heavy defeat has rather ruined their accumulated goal difference figure.

Whhaaatttt?? Really, he took my club,Huddersfield Town,practically down into the 3rd tier, he was sacked before he did, in the end we still went down but he started the rot. He did make a promising start though during his first season we remained in the play offs until the last day of the season, got hammered 3-0 at Fulham and Bolton nicked our play off place. The following season started dreadfully and we spent most of it bottom of the league and eventually we were relegated, although as I said Bruce had gone by then. There is no love for Bruce from any of us Town fans, nor his lad, who we had on loan, I thought he was ok, but just because of who is dad was made him unpopular.
Derby County have requested permission from QPR to speak to Steve McLaren who is apparently first team coach at QPR. When I initially caught they'd requested permission from QPR I thought it was for 'Arry, but Derby is too far north for 'Arry so I eliminated that from the start

Another over rated manager imo, did ok at Middlesbrough, disaster with England,clueless at Forest, great at Twente,not so great at Wolfsburg and his return to Twente was unsuccessful.....so I'm not sure what the clamour is for him by the Derby board. He did play for Derby during the 80's but is that enough for the Derby fans?

He said a team needs five or six world class players to win the Champions League, and that United aren't quite there. He might think United are only one player short.
Since we are talking about a knockout competition the whole thing is nonsense anyway. He used the example of Bayern Munich having that many world class players but not every recent Champions League winner has.

World class players at United? You can make a case for Van Persie and Rooney, whilst Giggs and maybe Evra used to be.
That leaves them a couple short, at least.

How many world class players were on the pitch for Chelsea when they won the Champions League? Shows that you don't need six to win it.
As for United's world class players, clearly have less than Bayern do at the moment. But if Giggs and maybe Evra used to be then so were Vidic and Ferdinand.
People define world class differently though, if you're just talking about a World XI then maybe it's just Van Persie. A looser definition might include Rooney.

Being only 6 games in it doesn't feel too bad. I wonder how it must have felt to finish nearer relegation than promotion in the last three full seasons though....
I don't know myself, my team haven't been in a league with promotion in my lifetime.
Make the most of being nearer the relegation zone and enjoy it, you wont be near for long but will understand some of the other teams then!
Yes, but even from the stands his immense presence drove the team on, his leadership filled them with lion-like strength, they played "For the Legend", and he fully justified his presence (with shin-pads) in the presentation party.

2-0 now Barkley and Lukaku are continuing to terrorise the defence, looks like Everton will retain their unbeaten start. Good to see Martinez succeeding so far having seen many people say he wasn't good enough.
