Ahh Sheff Wed. The longest sleeping giants in English Football.

Hmm i dont think so, i just think weve been mismanaged into pub league :) I wish we were a sleeping giant i honestly do. But if we are its gonna take one hell of a guy to wake us up.

And XC driver gordan wasnt avaliable, had to stick to good old jullian. :(

OLD 'ARRY STICKS TO HIS GUNS

Tottenham Hotspur have just received an increased bid of £27 million (up from the original bid of £22 million) from Chelsea for their midfielder Luka Modric. Old 'Arry Rednapp thinks that this only HALF the true value of the player and has dismissed the bid out of hand.

It's funny how he never feels the same when he's bidding for a player.

I think you'll find, i'd be better off not supporting either :) as lets face it were both in league 1 after woefully poor efforts in championship. I think between us we've been through most of the bad managers in the entire country in last few years. We wouldnt have it any other way though would we ?

I am presuming your blade here.......

I genuinley hope we both get promoted at same time from league 1 because last season was missing the derby between us. Even if wednesday loose both i still would prefer that to nto palying you at all.

Much prefer playing, but due to a nasty injury my playing career was killed off in early teens. I wasnt good i just mean i have an injury. Did player/manage my own college team during A Levels, A level maths and science :P We beat everyone then lost to BTEC sport in final shame :( I thought i was going to be the next swfc manager.

My skill as a football player = 0 :D
You never know, your skills might just be locked up, waiting to be released. :)
Last year I had absolutely no football skills and I was hopeless, but for some reason I have improved and I am now in the B-team (not A's :P) playing in defence.

At one of our matches last season, we played against Pates Grammar in Cheltenham. Nothing special about that apart from the fact one of the players knew my name (I was thinking what the hell!). My only explanation was that they lived near me in Cricklade when I was younger; or they're on these forums…:o

Unfortunately I think I should have taken a chance to improve my football skills about twenty years ago!
A little past it now!

Patrick Viera at the age of 35 has called an end to his playing careeer and has just been appointed in the new Manchester City position of Football Development Executive.

He will join the "behind the scenes" staff that already includes both David Platt and Bryan Kidd.

He's had a good career, without a doubt he was at his best at Arsenal.

On a lighter side of the news. Sheffield Wednesday have signed Julian Bennet on a free transfer

Life in Division 1 sees a lot of free or "loan" transfers. Budgets become very tight and the monies paid to the clubs in that division, by the ruling football bodies, are much less than in the Championship,

Did you realise that when the season starts on Saturday, 6th August, there will be two "north of Manchester" teams playing the two Shefffield teams in League Division 1......maybe too far to be classified as "derby" matches.

Oldham Athletic will play Sheffield United

Sheffield Wednesday will play Rochdale

Sports press in Italy suddenly mentioning Juventus in regard to Carlos Tevez, but my feeling is that it is his two daughters in South America who will hold the key and Carlos Tevez is sticking to this in his latest statement to the Argentinian squad meeting.

This has led to sports press claims in Brazil that Corinthians have now made a second offer of £40 million to Manchester City

And we wonder about British sports press speculation...

why does everyone keep saying fabregas is being held hostage by arsenal? if you dont want to play for arsenal dont sign a huge contract with them you t**s pot!!!!!!!

Id like to be kidnapped but have no restrictions to what i do and get £100K a week sounds fun....

sorry this fabregas situation is frstrating me, you sign a contract you stick to it, not the mayor of your own town telling media that arsenal have kidnapped him (this is actualy what has been said he likened it to kidnap)!!

rant over... thoughts?

I have to agree. It belittles those who are genuinely kidnapped too.

I wonder how many of us in the real world would be able to just walk away from a contract with our employer?

It's a little bit like the mobile contract, you can't leave half way through simply because you've seen a better deal. The sooner footballers realise a contract is a legal document the better

Hibs have Junior Agogo on trial. Can anyone advise of his qualitys?

I can give you some background information on him. His correct name is Manuel Agogo and he hails from Ghana. In 1995, he came to England and joined Sheffield Wednesday as a striker, but in 1999, he went out on short-terms loans to 4 clubs including my club, Oldham Athletic, for whom he only played twice.

In 2000, he went to the USA and played Major League level for Chicago Fire, Colorado Rapids and San Jose Earthquakes.

In 2002, he returned to England where he played for Queens Park Rangers, Barnet and Bristol Rovers.

In 2008, he went abroad to play for Zamalek SC, then in 2009, he signed a two-year contract with the Cypriot team Apollon Limassol.

In all the matches above he has scored a total of 112 goals

INTERNATIONAL CAREER

He first was chosen to represent Ghana in 2006. He has a good scoring record for Ghana and in 27 international matches, he has scored 12 goals.

TWO NEW SIGNINGS FOR LIVERPOOL

They have signed STEWART DOWNING from Aston Villa on what is said to be a "long-term deal" for approx. £20 million.

They have strengthened their goalkeeping squad by signing the Brazilian goalkeeper ALEXANDER DONI from AS Roma on a free transfer.
