I was presenting my opinion, and in my view Birmingham were a stronger team than Wigan for the most part of last season.

Please don't take this the way it sounds but your opinion and my opinion really count for nothing. Results of football matches and points in final league tables are not based on who has the stronger team but on who scores the most goals in a game and who has the most points. Thats it. You don't get style points in football. Wigan ended up with a better record, hence they stay up. Anything else is meaningless.
I know I probably am a little biased being a Villa fan but I don't think they can have many complaints. They scored the fewest goals in the league for one thing

I have a few friends who are Blues fans, I know shocking really !!, and most were really pessimistic towards the end of the season. They could see the rot had set in and they had lost all confidence.
But I suppose they will be back up again at some stage. Don't think they will do it this year though. And of course we don't know yet what affect the Yeung affair will have on the club

With Adam Rooney as a main striker, providing that he remains reasonably injury-free and gets good service, you should have a good season in the Championship. The belief can be re-motivated in the close season.

Agreed. However unfortunately I missed out a key word in a previous post! I meant to say I am not a Birmingham City fan Huge fan of Chris Hughton though!

Using that same link, I see that Oldham Athletic will be playing in an all-Black strip (not the NZ rugby one) for away games in the 2011/2012 season. This might improve their away performances if the opposition do not cotton on that there are not 12 referees on the field, whilst Oldham sneak in a few goals during the confusion.

A BALKAN IMPORT INTO NORTH WEST ENGLAND

Manchester City, the Northern version of the Bank of England ( having abstracted Gael Clichy from Arsenal yesterday) have this morning completed the transfer of 20 year old defender Stefan Savic from Partizan Belgrade on a 4 year contract for a figure in the region of £10 million. He has reeceived the required work permit.

Slavic played against England in a recent international match when some of his Manchester City new teammates were playing against him.

That is now two defenders signed in two days, showing where more strength in depth was required in comparison to the last season.

In Hope Powell, the women's team have a manager who has empathy with her team and she has good managerial skills. Otherwise, they would not have even qualified for the tournement...unlike some other teams not so far away from England.

I note the original figure of £6 million that was "press suggested" six months ago has now reached £20 million in one press "rumour"!. Perhaps the true transfer fee and the length of the contract will eventually be announced by Liverpool F.C.

Now when Charlie was a 'squad player' down Govan way, I thought he was actually a fair player (and I'm a Celtic Fan!), he comes 'South' for not very much, plays well and looks good in a Blackpool side, and now looks like he's on the way to Anfield for several million, proves the premier league will:
1.Get you noticed more
2.Get an over inflated price paid

Personally, I think he'll do ok there (Not that I'm a Liverpool 'admirer' in any way)

Unfortunately, the heavy rail route on the Oldham loop line was taken out of service to make way for the new extension of the Manchester Metrolink system, which will not be running through to Oldham until 2012 at the earliest. So it is a taxi or bus from Piccadilly. The taxi will not be cheap either by black cab or private hire.

I will offer my sympathy to you in advance as Oldham Athletic are the team that I support and I always have high hopes at the start of each season, when they usually play well and upset some well-known visiting teams.

Its great for Sunderland that they have an owner with ambition, willing to spend money on his club. Eight new players speak for themselves, real belief that they can go further. Something that is lacking from their rivals on the Tyne.

One matter that seems to have gone quiet at the moment is the situation concerning the 24 year old Samir Nasri at Arsenal, as he still has refused to sign an extension to his contract that has only 12 months left to run. It is exactly at this time of contract length when matters normally move forward. Yet Arsenal are adamant that whilst "expressions of interest" have been made, no official bid has yet been received. This may mean that something is now in the offing.
