Bradford (Park Avenue)'s 1969/70 player of the year Graham Carr is currently an Associate Director of Northampton Town, a club he managed from 1985 to 1990. I still remember him scoring with a 50-yard lob at Darlington and saying "Sorry the club got kicked out of the League like" when presented with his trophy as the Supporters Club AGM at the Central Library. He had already left the club.

Graham features extensively in Changing Ends, at ITVx series about the of the upbringing of his son, the camp comedian Alan Carr. Graham is played by Shaun Dooley and young Alan by Oliver Savell.

In episode 5 of Changing Ends on ITVx, Graham Carr takes out an old VHS video of our former midfielder in his playing days and shows it to Alan.

The video purports to be Northampton Town vs Portsmouth at the County Ground. However it is actually Avenue vs Doncaster Rovers at Park Avenue on Dec 21st 1968! Graham only played for us for one season 1969/70, so didn't actually appear in the televised match against Doncaster.

Our team that day was Hardie; Singleton, Gibson; Conley, Brown, Robinson; Gould, Draper, Andrews, Darfield, Cockburn, half of whom wouldn't even get into today's National League North side which has just been relegated. How on earth did they beat the league leaders?

Other scenes in the series look like they were filmed at Latimer Park which is the current home of Kettering Town. The County Ground is now only used for cricket, the football stands having been demolished after the Cobblers moved to Sixfields Stadium in 1994.

Indeed. Certainly, in a "penalty shoot out" scenario, it only really matters if the kick either resulted in a goal being scored or, if it was missed/saved, no goal was scored.

I didn't see the game, but if this was the "last kick of the game" penalty save Talksport is hyping it up to be, why was a rebound even allowed? I thought that in this circumstance they extend the match for the penalty to be taken, but that is it. No rebound or anything. As if it was part of a shootout. But I wouldn't be surprised if Talksport have been highly inaccurate.

I don't think it was. One of my kids was watching and said that the penalty incident occurred after 5:50 of 6 minutes additional time, but that England had been time wasting during injury time, so another minute or so after the penalty shenanigans seemed about right

Luton’s first home Premier League fixture (Saturday 19th August) against Burnley next season has been postponed, as the club cannot give guarantees that ground improvement work will be completed on time. Surely a way of avoiding a blank Saturday for the clubs would be a fixture swap, playing the Burnley v Luton match from later in the season that day and vice versa, although I doubt it will happen!
