A look at Google maps streetview shows that at Catford Bridge station there is some sort of information board on the station forecourt at the side of the night entrance to the down platform. Perhaps that is the relevant poster?

Thanks for this, i found it (at both stations) :D

Catford Bridge has it on that information window, and Catford (strangely) has it by the ticket machine near to the side entrance. In both cases it's not visible as you approach the ticket office directly.

It's using the two shades of blue SET uses in their branding on black text - making it somewhat difficult to read and really doesn't stand out from a distance (in comparison to the bright yellow penalty fare warning, for example). It does state in the top right corner about the reservations times.

I find it bizarre that a TOC would choose to display that information in a less-than-prominent position, rather than right by the ticket office entrance. Given that NRE doesn't explain the restrictions on buying tickets for advance travel, and given that most people wouldn't expect there to be any restrictions, it just seems a recipe for having loads of narked off punters.

More likely a poorly thought-out arrangement than anything else.

I would say it's neither of these, more a pragmatic thing. Southeastern doesn't do advances on its own trains, so passengers at its stations are not for the most part going to want them.

An update.

They apologised and gave me £5 RTVs, but the letter didn't acknowledge all of the points - including no mention of Catford, no mention of the staff member at Lewisham and no mention of how i wanted someone to say thank you to the conductor on the train to Ashford, who was the only person to try - so i pushed it back to them.

The person on the phone to SET acknowledged that the letter seemed incomplete and raised it again.

This time they emailed me and still didn't acknowledge the conductor on the train to Ashford.

I don't fancy going around this a third time around though.

If that is the only remaining issue, I am inclined to say just leave it.
