Is this a service which flatters to deceive? I fail to understand why it carries an X number. It's the old 77/78 service which was originally operated by Sheffield/Rotherham/Doncaster corporations. In recent times, First have increased the frequency and given it route branded vehicles but it's slower today than it was thirty years ago. It operates in a fairly direct line between the three towns but at almost an hour and a half end to end it seems pitifully slow.
Of course it's dependent on road speeds and traffic conditions but it gives people the impression that it's a quick link. X implies express but this service is certainly no express!
