Hi everyone,

I have just recently applied for a trainee train driver post at Glasgow central with Firstgroup. I was wondering if anyone had a rough idea of the timescale between the closing date and when the line manager releases the short listed applicants?

Thanks

Steve

Not sure about First for Scotland but in General from my experience it will take anything from a couple of weeks to 10 months.

So be prepared to have a long wait!

When i applied back in feb this year it had taken a few months for me to be shortlisted then i was put on hold for 6 months. Can be frustrating but be patient mate lol i know people who have waited few days to a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the quick replys. I Guess it's just a waiting game now! I will keep my fingers crossed for a few weeks rather than months. One can dream.

Thanks again guys.

I applied for the same position in October and I have been sitting at "awaiting
shortlisting" since. This is my third attempt at this so be prepared for a long wait
and a good chance of disappointment as I've heard theres already been a few in
for the assessments and interviews for the position so if any of them are successful it lowers our chances. It all depends on how many they need though.

I applied for the position on the end of october and was placed "successful after short-listing on hold" on 12th nov got another e-mail on 15th invited to first assessment on 27th nov. got notification of passed assessments and invited for managers interview next week. so now researching as much as possible on various sites as well as this forum for that day. Def think i have been lucky but from what i have been reading here the wait can vary alot.

Took me 6 months from the application close date to the start of the course date with First. It appears to be a lengthy process in general whichever TOC you apply to.
Good luck and be patient it will take time, also if they say 'we will review within 4 weeks' it WILL be 4 weeks so don't expect anything before.
