Where is the reductions for Glasgow and Aberdeen?

Aberdeen has already seen a vehicle reduction over the past 2 years, mostly with minor impact to the network. They did putt the 9 & X40 at the start of 2018, however the buses saved were reinvested elsewhere on the network. 3 has just been reduced from Every 10 to Every 12 Minutes, however again PVR remains the same. The only real cut has been the withdrawal of the offpeak 1A.

Aberdeen is in dire need of a mass service revision but that's another topic for a different day.

To be fair some of the fares have been bad for years in FSE land, while Glasgow and Aberdeen has better cost value tickets

So are the singles and returns going up as well? Having to pay £2.20 single for some short distances can be ridiculous as you can imagine.

Yip .take from the Falkirk college to gala bingo for instance ,2 stops it was £2.20 ,now gonna be £2.40 .ridiculous . There are less getting singles though I think so maybe these increases are more to get more money from the concessions?

The reason for single fares being so expensive is to make up the losses from concessions. Most operators are doing it right now, we can't really blame them either as it's not their fault.

Yeah that one was the most ridiculous, First stated that the reason was because the fare stage changed at the bus station.

Meanwhile some years ago Stagecoach had two buses going that way and only cost £1.15 at one point. Massive difference.

And yes, it's always about the concessions, the reimbursement rate keeps on dropping.

In 2018-19, the reimbursement rate will be 56.8% (of the adult single fare) and the capped level of funding will be £202.1 million. The corresponding figures for 2017-18 are 56.9% and £196.16 million.

That's a massive drop. It is true though, the operators game the system by raising on-bus single fares most.

First handed Back all the school contracts, looks like they wanted to renegotiate the deal but Council have given them to another operator.
Balfron left with virtually nothing PVR wise ,Bannockburn and larbert have handed back schools and Livingston which operates the California to St mungos will be gone .
Certainly sorts out the Driver issues at Larbert but must surely take a lot of money out the business.

I cant see Balfron Lasting with what 3 buses? There could just transfere them to Stirling depot? What about the Fife contract, are there staying?

So First have tried to game the system and failed? I’m always amazed by how many double-deckers are sitting at Bannockburn between the peaks, this is going to be a big hit for FSE.

*If* Balfron has lost all its schools work it must make the depot very vulnerable. Running the 10 from either Glasgow or Stirling is problematic – a lot of expensive dead running – but maybe the peak flows into Glasgow make it worthwhile. I guess running it as a through service to Stirling might work. All very sad for those of us that have a bit of a thing about small country depots – and sadder still for any drivers/mechanics affected by this.

If there is to be any “flooding “ , do you think using the old worn out stock from those depots that lost schools will attract any customers. I don’t think so ,my guess would be it’s an excuse to get rid of the old stock and an attempt to make the business move on or look better for sale .

YES Fife contracts are still going , and the 1 West Lothian contract (Livingston depot) is still in place.
Your right I can't see any logic in Balfron for that small amount of work.
I heard it's a company called "Carrs " taking over schools but that means nothing to me as my knowledge of that area is poor.
