Hardly big cuts anyways? I really wouldn't class this as Significant. Saving what two buses? or 8 journeys at the most? Another point is, just after the new year is one of the weakest times for night goers.

Only one parts of the city is losing their night service,
* N60 (to Easterhouse) Will be replaced by N2, it will longer serve the Monklands area.
* Other side of the N60 is still in place expect for a tiny gap between Drumry Road East and Clydebank
* N75 that seems to be the only area that getting completely cut off, Is there no party goers from Castlemilk?

Unlike others it should be noted Stagecoach East Scotland thread has recorded cuts and issues etc, and Also Mcgills thread also highlighted any changes on their patch. It is strange why other people dont comment or whitewash cuts elsewhere.
Surprised with the N75 going , the 75 is a busy route . There is no N5 and i dont recall ever being one recently .
N6 at least staying , southern section of N6 got to be one of the most important nightbus routes.
N7 was surprised this ran , was like 2 journeys .
Used to nighbuses on the 44 routes .

Hi all, After First Glasgow going public about a slow down in the number of bus passengers throughout the city, they have announced their solution. Another price hike from 7th or 8th January 2018. I can't remember of hand all the details but I know that some fares are going up by 20p, and the network day ticket goes from £5.50 to £6.00.

It is likely most First areas will have similar rises shortly, with m ticket prices either held or going up less than other payment methods.

First Manc are going up 10p-30p in some areas, with weeklies going from £15 to £16 which is going to absolutely hammer our floats, especially on a Monday morning!

Not like the public hate First Manc too much anyway!

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
Leeds are apparently about to start sending their long-stored Wright Streetcars for scrap, a photo on the Firstbus Enthusiasts page suggests these are heading to the PVS graveyard. I guess someone has agreed to take the financial hit and get these off the books.

All in all, another piece of Moir's legacy is about to disappear for good...

Stagecoach Manchester are also putting their fares up on 2nd January. In their case it is less than 9 months since the last increases, which averaged 7.4%. They are also penalising those that can't afford or otherwise use smartphones. Note that BOTH Operators announced their fare increases within hours of Andy Burnham's speech in Leeds.

Formal announcement of the ever shrinking 'Berkshire' operations: https://www.firstgroup.com/berkshir...changes-our-berkshire-network-20-january-2018

I genuinely can't believe how badly Empress Road has handled things. In less than a decade, Maidenhead, Bracknell routes - gone (lost in separate 'bus wars' with Courtney), now routes in and around Slough and Windsor are for the chop. It's barely been a year since many routes lost their direct connection to Heathrow.

Local publicity for their chopping and changing bus services has been virtually non-existent. Last month's change to a zonal fares system wasn't communicated to passengers beyond their website and then only in abbreviated codes. Drivers had to inform passengers as they boarded. A lot of the buses have only recently received large new vinyl stickers on interior panels displaying the pre-cuts Slough network.

These cuts in Slough seem quite brutal - I always thought Slough was a small oasis of more promising territory compared to the rest of the home counties. It is a small operation remote from the rest of First bus - does this matter? Maybe not getting the management attention it needs?

There's a number of issues. It's clearly suffered from being run at arm's length from Southampton who seem to make bad decisions. There's also the decline of Slough High Street for shopping, for instance Marks & Spencer finally pulled the plug on its High Street store this year. So why would you go into Slough at the weekend? The September 2016 change made Slough Bus Station the hub for all routes. The retail parks along the A4 are very busy, but only route 4 serves them, bypassing nearby village centres.

Route 6 inexplicably does not call at Wexham Park Hospital when it would be a 5 minute addition to the service, seems a spiteful decision when the route it replaced did. Route 12/13 is now a horribly compromised timetabling mess that will probably drive non-commuting passengers away from using the service. 10/11 and 15 used to be one route IIRC that went to Heathrow, it's now 2 unprofitable routes that are for the chop.

There doesn't seem to be a local publicity team anymore. Many of the route and fare changes in the last 2 years have been done without any useful publicity beforehand, no information was provided at most stops, so passengers have been left in the dark.

Area you sure? Its been said on here Go ahead is having a bit of trouble in the area aswell?
Yes, historically it's been good bus territory. That comes from one of the former managers there. There was a time when Berkshire had First's highest profit margin.

Only been said by you on here :D It is generally a challenging area to retain and recruit staff as there are plenty of easier jobs around Heathrow and traffic in the area is terrible.

The Berkshire operations were a high point a few years ago and they have also received plenty of fleet replacement but you wonder what has actually happened. NonMulti sounds like they have local knowledge.

Slough Council have been looking for a replacement operator for the Slough-Chalvey-Cippenham service (First's withdrawn route 5). This could be a good route for a rival operator, free from any local competition.

Thats happened because of the back office operations being centralised. Alas the way things are going we might end up saying a few other places going the same way. It's only due to pot luck certain other parts of the first empire have managed to keep staff from existing teams within the new back office team.

Looks like Slough Council (SBC) has found a saviour in Reading Buses, they will be operating in Slough under the name 'Thames Valley'. I recall there was a meeting between Martijn Gilbert and SBC earlier this month publicly about their plans for Greenline 702, but it may have included talks about this.

Martijn Gilbert's Twitter - Delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Slough Council to operate on route 5 from 20th Jan as well as evenings on route 4 and Sundays on route 6 to replace withdrawn services.

Press release from SBC: http://www.slough.gov.uk/news/newsdetail.aspx?id=18452

Not quite sure how Reading is a saviour - surely, they are simply operating contracted services on behalf of Slough council ?

Re the Slough changes.

Its obviously bad news, but what would worry me about Berkshire ops is the removal of two buses an hour in the Heathrow 7 route. If a trunk route like that is being shredded i dread to see how the others are doing.

And with Reading Buses starting to dip a toe in the area i can't help but think of Edinburgh..

Probably the fact it's a council owned operator helps them with that, probably less interested in making a profit and more breaking even and there is probably council money put into it?
