I’m not sure about Phoenix Rd but the works seem to have been extended by another year.

M8 roadworks to remain for another two years after 'challenges' cause delays

Initial works are now not scheduled to be finished until late 2027 at an estimated cost as high as £152m.

Roadworks on a section of the M8 will continue for another two years after unforeseen “challenges” caused significant delays.

Temporary propping of the motorway at the Woodside Viaducts in Glasgow began in March 2021 after the bridges’ supports were found to be in worse condition than expected.

Now, work on the eastbound carriageway won’t be finished until Autumn 2026, while completion on the westbound carriageway isn’t scheduled until the second half of 2027.

Going by bustimes, I think 64153 was out (on the 398) a bit later but nothing else.

Also noticed the low height E400s don’t tend to be used on a Sunday. I remember this being the case with E500s when they were here but I think that was more of a fuel issue that was later rectified when they went to Aberdeen?

It’s mainly because the 6 isn’t as busy. Scotstoun’s Geminis are also the same too, not running on Sundays because they’re not normally needed (unless it’s like a big event like TRNSMT, when more buses are needed to run on routes).

Strange, there was a time not long ago that they had low heights out on the 6 on Sundays for most of the runs.

I did take a 6 from EK into town a few weeks back and the bus was painfully slow.

I’ve been told the E400s are kinda trash by some people at Scotstoun depot (who went to the Cowcaddens Fire Station Open Day last Saturday), and they want to replace them with low-height electric deckers.

There's certainly 10 of them so far - the latest First Group allocation changes (from official sources: https://wmbusphotos.com/Fleetchanges/First.html) confirm Repowers 71038-47 are bound for Scotstoun. These ten have come from the various older (351xx) StreetDecks released by the influx of Yutong U11DDs into Hengrove and the following cascades around West of England.

I have to say their allocation is a surprise - the original assumption was that the West of England StreetDecks released would become part or all of the 27 Repowers announced for Bath in the Spring, but apparently not!

I would be surprised if they are replaced by new low heights. I think First would rather use existing singles.

Agreed. I doubt any low height buses will be coming for the 6. They’ll no doubt continue to use E200EVs and E300s until such times as a newer electric single can fill the void.

I believe this conversation has been had before. There is currently nothing new on the market in terms of low height double deckers which would meet the Busby Bridge height requirements. The BYD E400EVs are off by millimeters.

To my knowledge, the only low height bus shorter than the original E400 from this century has been the one off East Lancs Kenitec+.
