The information came from the First fleet manager and was confirmed by him on Facebook posts several times. And I’m happy to be corrected but do First not insure the vehicles with themselves?? An insurance company set up by First purely for this purpose. This insurance replacement story sounds a bit far fetched to me.
A company the size of First claiming on what must be a very expensive policy, for a 17 year old vehicle? Really?
Would be good to have a source for this info. Otherwise, it looks like enthusiast chat which is at risk of becoming gospel when repeated enough.

Also the end of (all/some?) the SPT services confirmedThe changes are now on the website. Everything seems to be there except when you click on the 7/7A timetable it takes you to the 6/6A. The other strange move is that the 38E is extended to Rouken Glen again in place of the 38C.

That'll be most of them gone now. The 7A, 11, 65 and 71A are the main 4 left that I can think of and even at that the 11 and 71A are the only two that are all SPT subsidised journeys. The 7A has evening and Sunday journeys and it's the 65 Sunday service that is subsidised. Also the end of (all/some?) the SPT services confirmed
I heard a whisper that Dumbarton is getting the 81 from Scotstoun when they get the 50 Enviro 200s.Are there any reductions planned among those changes or does the driver situation at Overtown help compress the need for cuts compared to Caledonia and Scotstoun? Are there any changes planned for Dumbarton?
Any responses to the question above should be made in this thread:Do we know if contracts have been awarded to other operators yet for the SPT tendered services being given up by First?
Their loss adjuster must have the easiest job in the world.Yes First are self insured.
Just seen on Facebook that there was a bus fire in Hamilton this afternoon. Apparently it was 33258 YX68UPK - is there any confirmation/details?
Surprisingly, 37533 is going to be an open-top conversion for Eastern Counties, to replace their Euro2 Dennis Trident on the Great Yarmouth seafront services. One of the higher-ups for Eastern Counties confirmed this in the Firstbus Enthusiasts group on Facebook.![]()

Not my photo but is it known how many buses are being done?
With digital wing mirrors, perhaps its best at Caledonia.I thought they may have swapped it out for 34361 which is the odd one out at Scotstoun.

Also not my phot0 (from same account as above post), the 2nd hand Enviro 200s at Caledonia, any idea if these are staying at this depot or are planned to be used elsewhere?
To be honest, I have heard a few rumours about these but I'm not sure what to believe. I heard this week they were going to Blantyre for the 226 but then they were also going to Overtown to replace short E200MMCs so not sure. I think time will tell what happens with them.![]()

The x19 serves the Hydro and Is a normal fare. The events service for the Hydro has had a cancellation registered too now for March. I'd imagine it could be a decent money maker but in the current situation it's a waste of resources.

That's why I'm surprised that the X5 was fairly busy whenever I seen it. I do wonder if the Hampden event bus (X31) will also go in order to not waste resources given that Hampden Park is so well served by other buses. The x19 serves the Hydro and Is a normal fare.
Doesn't serve the Hydro directly, takes a right onto the Broomielaw and serves the first bus stop, only served the Hyrdo briefly when it was used as a vaccination center. The x19 serves the Hydro and Is a normal fare.
I think that was only the case if they were going to Manchester but First didn’t win the bid so that’s not happening now.To be honest, I have heard a few rumours about these but I'm not sure what to believe. I heard this week they were going to Blantyre for the 226 but then they were also going to Overtown to replace short E200MMCs so not sure. I think time will tell what happens with them.
I’m hoping first realise they’ve made a mistake with the range of the E200EVs and order some Yutongs. Especially for Lanarkshire services when the time comes.I think the other things that will dictate a lot of the fleet movements are how well the Yutongs do when they get to Aberdeen and how quickly Alexander Dennis bring out electric buses with better ranges for mileage. For me personally, the Yutong E12s are very decent buses that are pretty comfortable too. I think they'd be very good for here.
It'll be interesting to see how the E200EVs do with the 2, 3 and 6 at Scotstoun too. They're long routes with long operating times so it'll be tough to make them last.I’m hoping first realise they’ve made a mistake with the range of the E200EVs and order some Yutongs. The E100 could be ideal for some short services or even to replace any Solos, or simliar that are still kicking about if any. It'll be interesting to see how the E200EVs do with the 2, 3 and 6 at Scotstoun too. They're long routes with long operating times so it'll be tough to make them last.
I think if they struggle there it'll bring a change of tactic with other types of buses coming into the network. I'm not sure when Alexander Dennis plan on releasing their next buses with better ranges but I'm sure First will be all over them immediately as they're supposed to have far better ranges than the current buses.
From what I can find the next E400EV will have a range of 260 miles and the E100EV will have a range of 285 miles and that's a massive improvement given the needs of our network. I don't think they'll go near the E100EV due to the capacity being low but that's the difference in range increase from the first electric vehicles to the newest ones coming this year.

On another note, does anyone know how many savings these cuts make combined with the SPT tender cuts?
I think it's the capacity that will be the non-starter in Glasgow to be honest. They supposedly only have up to 25 seats with 20 standing. Given the demographic of who uses the smaller routes here I don't think they'd like the idea of standing. Our shortest routes aren't really near the Low Emissions Zone either. The e100 could be ideal for some short services or even to replace any solos, or simliar that are still kicking about if any.
I wonder if ordering some E100s for Lanarkshire when they eventually get charging ports would be a possibility. If First were toying with the idea of completely redeploying all of their newest E200MMCs to Manchester if they won franchise bid then I’d say the chances of them doing something drastically like that again won’t be off the cards. The e100 could be ideal for some short services or even to replace any solos, or simliar that are still kicking about if any.
