E200ev have a range of 160 miles and the Yutongs e12 have a range of 180 miles, do there's not much of a difference.
This is no longer true, the original Yutong E12 demonstrator had 295kWh batteries with a range of around 180 miles, however the production examples have newer 422kWh batteries and a range of "up to 300 miles" with around 270 miles being realistically achievable. The comparison being made was with the Enviro400EVs which have a claimed range of 160 miles but the real world range is generally quite a bit less than that.

Cardiff buses have the e12 which have the 422kwh batteries are they only have a 180 miles per charge

Yeah, that 422kWh battery is impressive given that other models coming into the market have larger battery packs for the same theoretical 300miles.

I wonder how the Yutongs compare in price to there British equivalents like ADLs EV’s or Wrights Electroliner.

Electrical range of these vehicles when operated by First Glasgow should do play given that many routes are fairly flat with few hills.

Enviro 200s in reality have a range shorter than that. And when you factor it in 20 miles can be a full round trip and empty to the depot

As a regular user of the 2 (formerly 62) over the last few decades I’d say that a mix of doubles and singles works the best. If there are no high range electric deckers around then it could be a mix of Yutongs and E400MMCs until they get deckers with a higher range. If the 77 is getting the next batch of E400EVs as rumoured then it would be good for the current stock to be transferred on to the 2 and 3.

Back in the day the 62 would see new singles and Volvo Citybuses/Royales/B7TLs. They’ve always tried to convert the route to single decker operation and for a time the route had artics.

Since they’ve changed the frequency of the 2 I’ve noticed it’s predominantly deckers although as said above - it’s older, un-refurbished B9TLs. The 2 has always been a frequent and busy route and it used to see new stock every few years but since the batch of B7RLEs were delivered in 2005/2006 - the route waited longer to see new E300s in 2012 and hasn’t saw anything new since. The route has never really changed over the years and is very heavily used.

First Bus and there commitment to zero emission buses is helping to cause these problems.

Hybrid-diesel vehicles would’ve been a natural choice for the longer routes like the 2 or 60 for example.

There is no requirement for First Glasgow to have an all electric bus fleet.

There absolutely is a requirement. Any hybrid or pure diesel vehicle that is built now will have a very short lifespan without the need for some conversion at some point down the line. Zero/low emissions schemes are only going to get stricter as time goes on, and no operator wants to be stuck with a vehicle which still has half its natural lifespan ahead of it, but cannot be used, nor cascaded, because of future regulations.

However, by the same admission any pure electric vehicle built just now will need new & pricey battery replacements, likely after 5-8yrs, when you factor in that Hybrid-Diesels have far smaller battery packs to replace it will be undeniably cheaper to replace smaller battery packs, First Bus jumping on the everything 100% electric campaign is something that is instantly problematic in itself in years to come.

Not that we shouldn’t see these changes but I feel it could be handled a little more progressively.

We can only wish that First Glasgow could be as persistent about sorting the reliability of services and addressing the dissatisfaction of people trying to use the buses.

The pricey battery replacement is generally equalled out by the lower overall running costs of an EV, it's not really an issue so long as operators are aware of it when buying vehicles which First Glasgow (and others) very much are.

Unfortunately the issue is that when First placed the order for 155 electric buses the BYD/ADL offering was the only real viable product on the market and the Yutongs with the newer batteries hadn't entered production yet so their real world potential hadn't been realised. First Glasgow had four Yutong E12s on loan for the COP26 shuttles and purposefully used this opportunity to compare them against the BYDs and found the Yutongs to be a far superior vehicle. First West Yorkshire also have a batch of the smaller Yutong E10 and have been very impressed by them.

Has 44664 been debranded? Also I see the 242 timetable is changing in June has anyone got an idea if its anything drastic? Possible Sunday service with Overtown depot now operating on sundays?
Yes 44664 is now in Urban livery. Seen in Motherwell. I guess the changes to the 242 might be in response to the 211 service started by ARG (Coakley's in reality) between Holytown and Motherwell.

How has Lanarkshire been since the last timetable changes in terms of buses missing? I'm not as familiar with there compared to what is going on everywhere else here. Seems to be awful at Scotstoun and Caledonia and even Dumbarton seems to be iffy

The 1C & 1D have a had an increase of Eclipse Urban buses (along with the regular E300s), as a major cascade of the Eclipse Geminis (mostly Scoutstoun) have left only few Geminis at Dumbarton.

I knew 'the One' pre-Covid was screaming for deckers especially at peak times. I’m not sure what it’s like now post-Covid. I’m surprised that the B9TLs are being sent back to Scotstoun, however. I mainly see them on the 2. I don’t get what the point in branding them for the One was. They need an internal refurb.

Someone here posted an image of one of the poles after it wast “fixed”, plus the seats definitely need a retrim, so you are right.

Another quality repair by First Glasgow on a 1 branded decker unsure of the fleet number
Post above is what I was referring to BTW.

The 1s are very weird at the moment but this week things definitely picked up. Double deckers are really needed again but before this week I'd have understood why they weren't. The 2, 3 and 6 being reduced also isn't helping towards Clydebank and Drumchapel from Scotstoun/Yoker either.

For what it's worth too, the 3 needs double deckers in some capacity too. They've been getting busier and busier from experience.

Going back to quality repairs I was on a 9A today where a takeout menu and some duct tape was being used to secure the side display in one of the new electric buses

Yes it is for BBT, the fleet number will be known to us public in due course.

I wonder if First may consider the new Volvo BZL or branch out to different manufacturers with better range given the E400EVs limited range.

We all know that First Glasgow are getting Yutong Single Deckers, but First really should try out other bus manufacturers for Double Decker buses.

Presumably a lot of the decision making will be on quantity pricing on orders across the entire group.
