will be posting this here and jmb thread but jmb have won the contract to replace the 31 between east kilbride and carmunnock

Wonder how used this will be considering it's not First operating it meaning people would need 2 tickets to get into Glasgow. Did think though that whatever replaced the 31 wouldn't end up with First

Will probably be a few concession holders and not many others

I understood SPT chose not to award the 31 contract, once bids had been received, so this would fit with that decision.
It’s unlikely that the full MyBus resource will be required for some time, so I wouldn’t be surprised if SPT make further use of these buses.

Not many , few from Carmunnock and few on Kirktonholme road. I wont be using it to get to town.

I feel that Castlemilk shopping centre would of made a better terminus than Carmunock. If anything first should of kept this service and made it hourly with SPT support.

Looking at other First twitters it's not directly a Glasgow issue.

It'll benefit the oldies and ones going local but ends up expensive if you need to go to the city centre as you'd need to use that and then First's 31 from Carmunnock.

Only looked at the Scottish ones and it's only the Glasgow one that's restricted. Aberdeen's and Scotland Easts are fine and tweeting

Probably the case. I see there is a 3 minute connection each way if someone wants to connect, really risky EK bound(No alternatives). Should of just ran it hourly city to EK. Up my bit there was quite a few who used it on saturdays to the City. All your going to get is some concession pass holders from Carmunnock and a few along Kirktonholme road.

It’s a one bus working. Running all the way to/from Glasgow would require twice the resource and also compete with the First service. Given that it appears to be using SPT funded resources, they wouldn’t be permitted to compete with the commercial service.

Just seen on Facebook that MSP Ivan McKee is holding an online meeting tomorrow night for residents affected by the cut of the 19A last year and the X2 now. Strangely no mention of the 32 but in fairness I don't think it'll do anything anyway.

Robroyston is horrific bus territory and passenger numbers definitely dwindled more when the X2 came in when the 19A was cut. Best bet is an SPT tender I think. Even at peaks the X2 was incredibly quiet although the train station opening probably added to that. The 19A was busy sometimes but mainly from the city centre to Provanmill. Never seen too many on it even to the Asda plus it was generally concession pass holders

Perhaps the lack of passengers is an indication of the nice new Robroyston train service. So why would the SPT be interested in a tender. If a perfectly good train service exists.

The positioning of the train station isn't great for a fair chunk of Robroyston because it's closer to Millerston. If you're not able bodied and stay at the far end of Glendale or Briarcroft that train station is a fair walk and probably not manageable. To be fair SPT already have the 72 as a tender that could be rerouted through Glendale and Briarcroft and that's the issue fixed straight away. Mcgills have been running it for quite a while now

Perfectly valid ifs though plus that's been the complaints people have had about losing the bus. I understand the attractiveness of the train but even when the X2 came in you couldn't even go to the Asda by bus from Glendale or Briarcroft. It wasn't ever going to work really with the X2 and I spotted it on the first day as I was out in the city centre. Seen the X2 about 8ish so practically best time for it to be busy yet it only had 3 people on it

Whole route barely had any stops either so no real opportunities to pick up passengers. Think it was 5 stops in Robroyston before straight onto the M80

Think I would leave the transport planning to the professionals in the SPT. That's what they are paid to do with the local councillors who are planning with them.

Councillors are also very debatable because the majority just want a bus for their area but it's not always in the most cost effective manner. I love your faith in SPT. Personally, I think the tendered network is a bit of a mess and the responsibility for that lies entirely with SPT. It’s grown on an ad-hoc basis over the years, responding to the piecemeal cuts from First & McGills (mainly). Every time a ‘vital’ service has been cut, the local councillors have made a fuss and SPT have cobbled something together. What we’ve ended up with is an incoherent mess. Keeping on topic, this matters as more cuts from First are almost nailed on – can see some evening/Sunday services disappearing. If SPT are as broke as they say, it’ll be interesting to see how they deal with the inevitable calls to ‘do something’.
