Sarah that is a real shame if you feel you are unable to post any more information. I'm sure I speak for many in thanking you for your contributions. It would be great if you would reconsider but of course appreciate that is your decision. Thanks again.
I agree with the majority of posters on here well sometimes ..are we now saying that someone employed by FIG who has info only wants to exclusively post it on a social media platform/forum approved by the poster for annoniminity ? once its in the public domain the rights of exclusive rights are nullified if the poster is an employee of FIG then PM a dedicated person on this forum.i understand there are employees of First on here who wish to remain anonymous for the obvious reasons BUT we have came a long long way from the dark old days of bloodbus.

Thanks for the info. Never really noticed anything like that before. I knew the difference between FIG 1 and FIG 2 but never really paid too much attention to VOSA until the last 2/3 months since I've been on this site and got interested in looking more into it when I read it being discussed a lot more

On the subject of VOSA anyone else find it weird we've not had a new registration for the 6/6A in yet?

Think we've had the rest except that

It would appear to have been an administrative error in registering it on the FiG No.1 licence and the application has been withdrawn. There is still PM0000006/434 registered for the same service but operated by FiG No. 2.

Always wondered if the regular workings by No.1 on the 1/1C/1D should have a separate registration, given it is a No.2 service.

Yeah was thinking that myself. Yeah would make the most sense. We know First and VOSA with registration of services don't particularly keep consistency in doing smart things plus I think eventually the 1C/1D will be renumbered and separated from the 1/1A/1B/1E. Also think the 1B could be cut at some point between Dumbarton and Helensburgh. Never been the most busy bus when I've used it

Talking about FiG No.1 and FiG No. 2, is there a reason why the two licences and companies have never been merged into one?
I understand they were Strathclyde (1) and Kelvin Central Buses (2) originally, but as they have been operating under the one banner First Greater Glasgow - for a long time. Not going to pretend I know reasons, I'm just curious?

Definitely. It's far too easy to get one too. I see so many people near me who probably don't need them yet I've seen elderly people with limited mobility who don't have one

Some people have hidden disabilities , i think people on the spectrum are entitled to them. Win win if they love buses

I had one because of my Aspergers but it was taken from me when I was 12 and I haven't had it since

Two different accounts. Its like Midland bluebird and First Livingstone ie First Scotland east Two different accounts.

It is possible, First Scotland east were merged but then demerged. This happens all over the place in First.

Yeah I can vaguely remember it being mentioned before. Would make sense to merge it especially because of the possible sale happening. Even if they didn't sell Glasgow's operations it would probably be better off to merge it. It's interesting now that we have more depots not in Glasgow than actually are in Glasgow too

It just goes to show that travel is changing. Most people nowadays have a car. You only have to look at the motorways in the morning. Even going back 10 years ago there are more cars on the roads! Not to mention there has been a lot of investment into the railways with electrification works being introduced on various lines. The perfect example of that would be the E-G, Cumbernauld and the Whifflet line which has allowed for better services all round the east end and more coaches to increase capacity.

Using buses as a mode of transport will dwindle less and less if better plans aren’t brought in to encourage people from their cars on to the buses. By that I mean more bus lanes, restricted access to cars and taxi’s into the City Centre, discounted travel incentives. I mean WiFi, leather seating and plug sockets on buses is a great improvement straight up. Now we just need tougher structures brought in to place to place to combat congestion and the bigger picture - global warming. Councils have to act tougher.

Looking back to years ago routes like the 4 used be so busy. Now they’ve been cut back. Same with the Cumbernauld services. The reality is showing.

Yeah the 4 or 44 used to carry loads of students to the unis. Im sure most students around Glasgow still stay with there parents . I think many young people get a car now , often paid by mum or dad , its what they aspire to , uncool to be seen getting the bus .

Meant in terms of population lol. Most recent info I could find for London population was 8.7 million mid 2016. Still over 3 million more than Scotland's population
Was in London yesterday and it does have agood bus system ,£1.50 single but its regulated .

The 6A I was on yesterday was a great example of this. 02 plate decker that was the least healthy-sounding thing ever not to mention there's a few older single deckers that leak water through the second it's raining

Dont you mean the 03 decker ha ?

Yeah that's the main thing people don't realise about Glasgow. We've got nothing compared to London in terms of subsidies. Wonder what the lowest First could make singles is and still make decent money. Even £2 might turn into a lot and it's only a 20% reduction.

There's not much depots to know about, and usually logically you can guess at least some of them.

1/1A - Dumbarton
2 - Scotstoun
3 - S
x4 - S
5 - Caledonia
6 - B & C maybe
7/7A - C
8 - C
9/9A - split C & S I think
10 - C
16 - S
18 - Blantyre
19-19A - C
32/33 - C
38's - C
41 - C
43/46 - C
60/60A/61 - C
64/65 - C
77 - S
81 - S

Some of them are wrong .

9 is only Scotstoun
6 is Caley and Scotstoun.
2 has caley on it too.

Caley can be further split into old Larky , Cumbernauld and Parkhead routes , the drivers are still split.

That would cost an absolute fortune on redundancies and they would have to move on their fleet very quickly. They would also have to sell their depots. None of what you're suggesting is feasible in the short term so they would be better off selling the business instead of in your words cutting their losses.

If you think some of today's fleet is bad you should've seen their predecessor companies who ran 20 year old buses in all day service.

Water leaking into the saloon could be a manufacturer fault,

Seems like you had the pleasure of the only 02 plate in the whole FG fleet.

But the 02 is at Caleynot Scotstoun , 6a is a Scotstoun route , unless its moved there

That would explain how there's been occasional single deckers on the 21 then. Not sure about peaks as they can be very busy but off peak the 21 could be mainly single decker and work well. Wouldn't run it all single decker though

Seems singles on 21 on sunday

Yeah I thought it was at Caley too until it turned up at Drumchapel on that. Don't think it'll last much longer anyway given how poor it sounded. Seating of it wasn't bad considering the age of the bus. Seen plenty of E300s in worse condition

Yeah think it'll be gone fairly soon. Seen plenty of the 03/53/04/54 plate buses still around too. Not all in great condition but not all terrible. The double deckers are very loud though

The 03 plate tridents I always found to be nice inside. Used to get them on the X8 but that route seems to be dominated with B9TLs now.

The B7TLs are in a dreadful state. They smell, they are loud, the seat coverings stink and need replaced on most of them. That’s probably why they are being cascaded down south. That and the fact that they are Euro 3. The B9TLs are nicer buses although some of their fans are starting to get louder I’ve noticed particularly the ex-FSE ones. The E400MMCs are good buses.

Yeah having more E400MMCs here has been a good change lately. Can see more being brought here over time. Very comfortable too. Seen 1 of the ones brought through from Livingston on the X85 on Saturday. Felt a bit ironic considering I had been on a 54 plate 60 beforehand when that's been the main service that they've been on

That's an interesting change given the fact they're extremely busy constantly. Also late very often despite not having a massive route. Think it's around 1 hr 10/12mins from Milton to Castlemilk

Petition being shared around Facebook to save the X1 is at 2666 signatures and it's only been around for about 2/3 days. Anyone think this could stop it being cut fully?

There's been more backlash to the X1 cut than any service I can think of off of the top of my head tbh.

The 2 being cut between Baillieston and Airdrie was pretty bad too tbh and the 4A being taken out of Kelvindale too are ones that spring to mind. The 4 being taken out of Knightswood too
