Anyone else think that First seem to follow set limits for how much they cut each time there's a service change?

Yes, 'higher management' (those above Jarvis) have instructed the Scottish ops to drop the PVRs. Hence the mass cuts at Aberdeen and Glasgow. The proposed Aberdeen changes next month see the offpeak PVR reduce by 11 buses! (That's in a fleet of only 149). So i can't begin to imagine what the target for Glasgow is.

Latest I can find for Glasgow's fleet numbers is 815 from June. Not sure if it's accurate given it's on Wikipedia though. If it is true my guess is dropping that by at least 100/150

Glasgow fleet is in the 800s, so that's probably about right. I highly doubt they're wanting a drop of 100. That's 1/8th of the fleet pretty much. Maybe 30-40 is a more realistic number, but it's just a guess as i don't know the figures.

I'd like to hope it's as low as that but given what they're cutting already I reckon there's more to come and some services that aren't as safe as people will like to hope

What services do we think could be cut to reduce PVR more? Not sure how likely any of these are but anything seems possible at the minute

So far I've got this:

2- to every 10mins
3- to every 12mins
X4-Either every 30mins or gone completely and replaced with an extended 4 every 30mins from Broomhill to Knightswood
6-Every 12mins
7A-Cut between Rutherglen and Westburn
8- Cut between QEUH and Partick
21- Short workings cut so it's just an every 30 min service
64- down to hourly
89B- withdraw and reroute 89A through Mavis Valley
90-withdraw Govan to Braehead section
255- withdraw short workings between Powburn Toll and Hamilton
266- Down to 10mins, every 20mins to Newmains and 20mins to Shotts
267- Every 12mins

9/9A converted to decker operation and cut to Every 7/8 Minutes (15 each)?

Could see that working well tbh. Would also fix the imbalance with every 12mins each on a Saturday where it's 24mins then 36 for the Braehead 9As

With respect, but this is bonkers stuff. The people running the bus company will posses all the necessary passenger, revenue and demographic data to make decisions on routes, timetables and tickets. If you feel so strongly about your ideas why don't you write to company. I'm sure some bean counter will be delighted but whoever draws up the plans will probably be less keen.

Single deck routes so cutting the frequency would be reckless.
6-Every 12mins
What about the relationship with the 6A?
21- Short workings cut so it's just an every 30 min service
Fernhill has a high population and cutting the frequency would be reckless.
89B- withdraw and reroute 89A through Mavis Valley
What about the relationship with 87/88/89?
255- withdraw short workings between Powburn Toll and Hamilton
Bothwell and Uddingston have high population and cutting the frequency would be reckless.
266- Down to 10mins, every 20mins to Newmains and 20mins to Shotts
Heavy competition route and wouldn't make any difference.
267- Every 12mins
Single deck route so cutting the frequency would be reckless and could attract new competition.

First have been caught altering and not being accurate and/or honest when it comes to this sort of data before. So much of it is up to debate. Without diverging too far off topic the changes proposed in Aberdeen evidently prove this is still happening.

With "respect" but then the first thing you do is fail to show respect. It was merely possibilities/suggestions not actually things I hope or I'd want to happen. If you're going to be rude then let's have your ideas

Sad reality of the pressure from above tbh. Nothing is that safe anymore while the cuts are being forced

Was genuinely an 02 lol. I thought it was gone but sadly not

Seems to be back at caley , was on a 31 today . Traffic was a nightmare , the roadworks at the new retail park in the Gorbals caused traffic to back up all the way to Mount Florida , got on 31 at 0812 and didnt get into town till 0930 which is when the next 31 is due .

Yeah around there is horrendous. The 75 suffers a lot with unreliability by the time it even gets to the gorbals and it's only going to get worse now with that going on

'Jarvis & co' had no intention to be doing most of these cuts a few months back. It's purely just pressure from up top. But sadly targets even if unrealistic have to met.

Sadly I don't even think we've had the worst of it yet either. Going to be interesting after these ones to see what goes next

I worry about the evening 31s to EK . SPT supported but usually dead. Heck of a walk for me if they go

Normally with these sorts of targets they'd spread the cuts out so their more elusive, however this time it seems they're going full force to get them done and dusted ASAP. So i'd hope come next March/April we shouldn't be seeing any further cuts to this scale.

Glasgow’s PVR was supposed to be cut by 14 in the October changes but will now only be cut by 4. More changes planned for January though. I don’t know what they are yet.

Thanks for the info. That's far better than I imagined tbh

I'm not being rude at all but I totally disagree with what you're saying. I'm not going to suggest ideas because I think it's better to establish some stability instead of change for change's sake.
