I laughed so much when I seen this earlier because I knew it was coming. I've been last on that bus at Blairdardie about 20/30 times towards Drumchapel so nobody can complain that they've lost it. It could maybe have worked if it had the 1C route and was a bit quicker but the route let it down massively

The 16 was never really busy. I feel like this was coming and First knew this was coming. Compared to the other hospital routes like the 34/34A and the 77 - the 16 has old B7RLEs on it and sometimes you’d get a decker thrown on it. It was inevitable.

Looks like an enhanced 9/9A service is operating tonight due to the summer sessions on at Bellahouston park, I saw 32585 and some other deckers on this evening

Can remember many years ago (50) when it went up Ryehill Rd and down past the old library in Barmulloch to the terminus at Wallacewell Rd.
Does anyone know if there a way to find bus single fares?
I am looking to find out the fare from 'Hamilton Road/Bailieston Road' to Motherwell Station; is this a "local" fare journey? All the site tells me is that these are "from" £1.65.
Also, where is the fare zone boundary? Their fare zone map says 'Calderpark footbridge', but I can't find a stop or location of that name.

Looking at Zone Map, it doesn't look like there's a direct service from Baillieston Road to Motherwell.
Even Google Maps suggest a bus change...

It's the no.240 you'll be getting. As for the fare, I have no idea but expect it to be a lot more than £1.65.

Might even be more than £2.40 as it's leaves the City Boundary.
Get the 240 from calderpark footbridge to Motherwell. Cheapest fare is £4-60 local all day.

I remember it well then it was changed to go left at the top of Red Road along Broomfield Road then right at the park along the full length Wallacewell Road to the terminus.
The old 16 was Balornock to Blairdardie via Partick and Anniesland up until the early 00s. It extended to start at Woodhill possibly in the 80s.

This journey is within the local zone. They asked for single fare from baillieston road to Motherwell.
As I had just missed a bus, I walked to the next stop in case it's cheaper.
The others decided to get the train, which has a clear visible price; I mentioned the bus but unclear information means many people prefer to walk to a railway station as they then know what the price is.
Anyway I will find out soon what the fare from Dunvegan Place to Motherwell is...
... Update: no price was mentioned but I see on the ticket it is £4.20. total rip off ; i should have taken the train!
Their website is extremely unclear and misleading. Clearly they don't want people to know how high the fares are until it's too late.

The fares on First's Lanarkshire services are based on distance whilst First Glasgow's city fares are more or less two flat rate adult fares which afaik are on the website.

I live near the stop at Broomhouse but although I don’t know the fare, I’d guess at £4ish. That Hamilton Rd at Baillieston Rd stop is the boundary between the city and Lanarkshire fares, so I’m guessing it’s slightly cheaper than a cross-boundary fare to Motherwell which is now over £5. An alternative to the 240 is to walk up to Baillieston station on the Whifflet line for a train to Motherwell at (roughly) xx40 past the hour (Mon-Sat, different on Sundays) – costs £3.60.
I don't think it ever has been, with regards to Lanarkshire services it's always seemed to be a case of asking the driver.
If you know the stop names, Traveline Scotland's journey planner should have the fares.
Not leaving for now. Will go in October. More PVR cuts.

They have to get rid of all those non-Euro 6 buses somehow....

Welcome to the bus industry in 2019... Sadly that's how it is at all companies regardless of if they have Barbie, Sport Direct or Maroon liveried buses!
