You must be new record holder. They are really testing your nerves on this one.
I am down for medical in just over a week time. I hope all goes well...

You've clearly been to DM. Seen so many conflicting views on it. Some say it's a relaxed informal chat and others say it's a total grilling. How did you find it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

In my view it is more relaxed in comparison to MMI purely because unlike expressionless, cold MMI interviewer DMs are smiling and chatting to you in a very friendly manner.
In terms of grilling..... YEP! It is all truth. Tons of questions, very intense. Afterwards my brain felt like melted butter on the hot pan.
My MMI lasted 30 min. DM interview 1h 20m, that says it all.
However DM was to me more enjoyable and challenging.

All I can say has already been said here in this thread.
How2become was like bible to me and I have to state 90% of questions asked, this book coveres.
The more you know about the company and whole group, the better.

Good luck mate.

Ok thanks. At least I'm thinking along right tracks. Would be gutted to fail at this stage.

Hello, I'm starting with first on Monday 3rd February, just wandering if anyone on here is starting then? Also what are people's plan for staying at hotels in Bristol and Swindon or travelling to and from?

Hi :)

I'm also starting on 3rd February. See you at Reading Station on Monday. I've had hotels booked for the Bristol based courses. For Swindon it will be the train then booking the extra travelling time as overtime. All the best.

Same as you, 7 weeks since I have been told I was successful. I emailed to find out if they had any DM interview dates yet but they said they were still awaiting dates from Recruitment Team at FGW and will let me know. *sigh* Having seen that Reading, Bristol and Oxford have dates I wonder if it's just Paddington that hasn't.

I'm starting on the 3rd of February too! I am for the Oxford depot however but will be seeing you all in Bristol on Tuesday for the corporate welcome.

I'm starting then too for Oxford. I've been put up in the Novotel in Bristol Monday and Tuesday night and then the Mercure Wednesday and Thursday night. I presume there will be a big bunch of us staying there? And we meet at Bristol TM on each morning. I am very excited to get started now. I live in Reading so the commute to Swindon/London for the other sessions won't be too horrible I hope. I haven't received my travel pass in time unfortunately but my line manager has said he is going to sort it out for me. I was stressing about that until yesterday!

Well well I can't believe it...stage 2 yesterday, email today saying congratulations! :D

Fantastic news, I did my stage 2 on 16 Jan and got my email 29 Jan, have my DM interview mid feb. Getting nervous reading some of the info on the forums about DM chats.

Hi mate, did you have to get in touch with them about your stage 2 results or you just received the email out of the blue?
I did my stage 2 on 14th Jan and still haven't heard anything even though I was told to expect to hear the following week. I'm tempted to contact them but I don't want to seem to pushy as there may be reasoning behind their process.
Stressful waiting though.
Congrats on getting through to DM interview and good luck with it.

So frustrating all this waiting to hear. Only been 2 weeks for me but the daily anticipation of an e mail isn't very nice.

No, i'm an external. Was just wondering if anyone else on here would be on the same course start date. Handed in my notice yesterday - getting excited now!

Rumours going around FGW internally (yes, it's just a rumour so far, albeit a consistent one) that the last drivers course associated with the massive recruitment spree being undertaken will take place in June.

Very interesting, I've just e mailed recruitment to see if they can tell me how I got on 2 weeks ago at my 2nd stage. Sounds like if I don't get on that course that's the end of it.

Well I've passed everything and waiting for a course. Kind of wishing I had applied at another depot as Bristol seems to be a standatill

Hi mate,
Did they reply to your email?
And did they say they will let you know your results?
Surely they have to let everyone know how they got on, even if they are unsuccessful, don't they??

if it like any thing to do with awaiting the short list, i was told it is first group company policy to let every one know if they have or have not made the first stage so i guess it must be the same though out the selection process, i asked because i still work full time but yet still to hand in my notice, i have assessment on the 12th feb. quick question on the practice book for the concentration test where you mark down the a set letter, do i need to mark how many as i complete the line or is that after i finish the sheet?
