Just to chime in here -

I attended a Stage 2 assessment in September and still heard nothing back! Not looking good :(

Have sent four emails to three different recipients (including the generic careers address) and no response from any of them.

It does appear to be different for everyone which just adds to the confusion when it's same TOC. The wait is frustrating but all you can do is keep trying to contact them. Maybe someone on here has got a different email or telephone number you can try? Fingers crossed for you.

No nothing yet Debbie (can't find the private message thing) but she did say it wouldn't be until next week anyway. Fairly relaxed about it all tbh, if I don't pass I'll just carry on doing what I'm doing with the satisfaction of at least having given it a go.

That's all any of us can do. But keeping everything crossed for you none the less!

Hi all, I'm new here.
How long should I wait to contact FGW HR regarding results of stage 2 assessments.
I was told I had passed all the tests but am still awaiting final result for MMI.
She said I would hear the next week as there were quite a few to mark.
Desperate to find out if I made it through but don't want to jeopardise my chances by being to pushy.
I took my stage 2 a couple of weeks ago now.
Is anyone else in the same boat?
Thanks for any advice

I waited over 5 weeks for stage 2 results.
Patience is unfortunately the key here.
To my knowledge there are courses in April and June. Plenty of time...
You could email Resourcing Team using their email: careers@firstgroup.com

I sat my stage 2 beginning of dec in Swindon. There was only 4 of us. I was told that I would know by the end of the week. 6 weeks gone by was told on Tuesday last week that I'd passed stage 2. Hang in there. They will get back to u.

This seems to be the case with most applications, long waits between the stages. I was one of the few to get a response within the same week of doing stage 2.

I also get the feeling they didn't get the numbers they wanted in the previous recruitment drive to mine, and that they will merge the 2 for the final stage.

Not sure what is worse;
< knowing that you have to wait for a response or
< mentally been prepared for a wait, to get it before you have even got over the shock of taking and getting through to the MMI. I had to read my 'congratulations' email 4/5 times before it sunk in.

I had estimated in my head that I would be on for a DM interview, if I passed stage 2, sometime in March/April...it has totally thrown me to find out it would be sooner.
I am one of those that will have to eventually relocate, so if I get passed this final stage, my planned timetable has shifted forward by 2/3 months.

I'm sure that those of you who have completed stage 2 will find out either way soon. I asked my interviewer if this was the case, and she said pass or fail you will be informed.

Just keep an eye on those emails ;)

I sat stage 1 in Sept 13, was told i will hear back in the new year. Question, if they decide you have not made the cut will they inform you? This hoping and guessing is a complete pain!

Anybody currently waiting for start dates at Westbury?

Or has anyone already started at Westbury?

I had my DM interview at the end of November, successful on hold.

Anyone else got any additional info? Lurkers maybe.

Patience should be on the required skills :)

During my stage 2 assessment last week one of the other lads mentioned that we could use the e-mail confirmation for the assessment/interview we are attending to travel for free on first group trains to that event. Can anyone clarify this?

Hi James. That's correct. I went for my second stage assessment in December and when I rang the HR they offered me a free travel permission on First Great Western. They sent me an email I had to print off so I could travel for free. anyway I ended up going by car LOL. Good luck!

By the way has anyone who attended second stage in December in Swindon heard back or got a date of DM interview? I called them, but they said that they waiting for a feedback and I had to wait although we'd been told that we'd passed.

Ok thanks Greg, that's good to know. I hope you hear about your DM interview soon!

So you're saying that you were told you had passed your MMI on the same day that you did it? Are you sure about that? At what point were you told this, before you left the room or later in the day? When I finished my 2nd stage day I left and went home.

Not sure who this is aimed at...but I don't think I have read a post stating someone has found out they passed on the same day they have taken it (maybe I missed it?)

I received an email the following day, stating I had passed, others have had a wait ranging from a few days to a few weeks before they have had news.

Ha ha I'm not sure now either but I definitely read it in someone's post which I can't see now, perhaps it's been edited out. Doesn't matter anyway :)

If it helps I got told straight after I finished stage 2 that I had passed and got my D.M. interview date there and then for 6 days later. It was explained to me that they tend to put the ones through with the strongest results first and as people fail their D.M. interviews, they go to the next down on the list etc. They do this for all the stages so that's why some wait longer than others to be told they have passed. However, as they pointed out, just because they got the higher marks, it doesn't guarantee they will be the type of person the company is looking for.

First time on this forum, just wondering if any one could help me. I took my 1st stage assessment for a trainee train driver at FGW on the 12 sep 2013, passed that and was told in October 2013 they would give dates for 2nd stage in the new year, still waiting for the date, have emailed them to see if they where any closer in deciding on a date but would like to phone HR or who ever deals with employment but cant find a contact number has any one got one please. Also If anyone else took assessments at the same time as me have you had a reply yet when is your date if already taken then what is it like and what do you have to do. Thanks all and good luck everyone.

Apologies for jumping in on this thread,
How often do the FGW vacancies get advertised?
I'm registered on their website but have never received any alerts!

It's under contact us section then look to left and you will see career enquiries..

Bear in mind this is only central resourcing not the recruitment managers dealing with your application

Hello, I'm starting with first on Monday 3rd February, just wandering if anyone on here is starting then? Also what are people's plan for staying at hotels in Bristol and Swindon or travelling to and from?
