Im in the same position as Brad waiting on medical result with a start date of October 14th

Amazing, when did you do your medical? did they confirm to you that everything is fine and just awaiting on the drugs test? Have you received your email from Verifile yet? and have you completed your Scotland disclosure online check?

I'm also expecting to start on 14th October. I'm just waiting for the Verifile email and contract now.

I've followed pretty much the same path as Brad1985. I applied to 1TPE in January and got past stage 1, but didn't get invited to stage 2.

I applied to FGW when their jobs came up, passed stage 2 in May, and had a DM interview on 9th July. One of the interviewers rang me a few hours later to tell me there'd be a place for me subject to HR, medical, etc.

When I started applying for train driver jobs in January, I didn't think I had a chance of even getting past the sift. I still can't quite believe I've actually got a job!

Best of luck to everyone else still in the system.

Thanks you and me both. I took the cbi 5 months ago, so in theory that's 1 month to go.

Hi Daddy_Badger, me too I finally got my result yesterday as well! the system says I failed the CBI interview! absolutely gutted by this result!

I took my stage 1 last October and stage 2 on March 22nd. I have emailed and tried to phone for results without any success! I would like some feedback really but don't suppose I will get any if I email them again!

Just have to wait until they advertise again and retry!

My heart goes out to anyone that hasnt been successful and huge congrats to those that have.

Myself? I am stuck in the painful waiting stage for my results from Stage 1.....!!
Think I did alright but its set out in a way that you really have no inkling - did I do more than others in my tranche...did I make more errors?!

I have never clicked 'refresh' on my email so much!!

I'm in thr exact same boat as you buddy. Wondering all the same questions. My laptop is sick of refreshing itself but I cant sit idle and wait for the response. Hoping for some contact today or tomorrow else we got another weekend of waiting. I gave it my all and felt like I nailed it. Lets just see if the statistics agree with me.
Good luck to all of you who are waiting still.

wmg75 sorry to hear you too, like daddy_badger waited ages for results only for it to be a no.

For those awaiting stage 1 results, I feel for you, been there and happily passed that stage.

My timescales so far...
  • Wed 1st May 13 - applied (for close 3rd)
  • Wed 19th June 13 - received practice materials
  • Thurs 11th July 13 - got a heads up from my current manager that resourcing had emailed requesting my release for stage 1 day on Mon 15th July !
  • Fri 12th July 13 - rang resourcing as hadn't received any letter/email, duly got email 2 hours later.
  • Mon 15th July 13 - sat stage 1 (GB + TRP1&2) at Penta Hotel Reading.
  • Wed 4th Sept 13 - manager rang me to say resourcing had requested my release on Mon 9th for stage 2, was it ok as it was my rest day ?! "Heck yes !"
  • Fri 6th Sept 13 - rang resourcing first thing as had not received invite or details - emailed within minutes
  • Sunday 8th Sept 13 - traveled to Newport hotel, crammed on the bopit and slept !
  • Monday 9th Sept 13 - attended stage 2 (Reactions/Co-ordination and CBI) at Newport Assessment Centre - passed reactions, advised should hear within 1 week re CBI.
  • Tues 17th Sept 13 - rang resourcing to request my online status be updated from "invited to assessment on 15th July" - advised would be updated.
  • today - still not updated and no results received.

I've concluded you just have to go with the flow and expect long waits and short warnings ! They must have huge numbers of candidates to process and dates/centres to juggle, but it could perhaps be a bit better. Waiting a long time to hear of a fail is not fair. Waiting a long time for the next assessment - ok, fair enough.

I will keep smiling and look on every days delay as more preparation time !

Good luck to all.

Hi, I just heard today that after applying for FGW at Paddington I have been invited to do the phone interview and have chosen Monday at 8.30. I sat the assessments back in August with Southern and passed all, except the CBI which I did not sit because I did not get through the driver manager interview which is done before the CBI at Southern. If I am successful in the phone interview would I just need to sit the CBI part with FGW? or does being invited to a phone interview mean they have already checked my results and they are good enough to progress to the phone interview stage? Reading the early parts of this thread it seems some got invited to assessment prior to any phone interview, so I am a bit confused as where I am in the process.

Having not got through the DM interview with Southern (and still not received feedback after 2 weeks) I am obviously keen not to make the same mistakes. I come from a client service background in finance and have also worked in travel as a tour manager so I can give lots of examples on client service and dealing with the public. I have, however, not ever worked in a safety critical environment (though escorting groups of 100+ elderly people around ships in Europe is not without risk!) and it is this area which I wonder let me down on the Southern DM interview.

I have been through the threads and can't seem to find specific answers to my questions so apologies if these have been asked before and I would appreciate any comments or thoughts.

Thanks

Hi guys need some advice....

I have passed stage 1 today but when getting myresults i was told that i havent got a high enough pass score to work for FGW??

First time ive ever passed but failed at the same time!!

Aparently i can work for any TOC apart from FGW unless i improve my pass score.

I dont know whether to laugh or cry!

That sounds like such a horrible situation to be in. How can it be fair for tocs to have a different benchmark pass rate. Id ring hr and get sone clarification. Can I ask when u sat stage 1?

FGW do not accept any borderline passes

It has been debated on this and other threads but due to amount sitting and passing they have raised bar even higher.

Most TOCs are adopting this approach

Because the pass mark is the same as it has always been, but because people are using the online practice tools (ie cheating) some companies have decided to raise their own acceptance scores, of course if people didnt try and help people by making the practice tools available then the OP would have been accepted.

Note that the OP has not failed and still has his 2 lives intact, not that it matters as the new (harder) tests start soon for which there are no practice tools available, yet.
