It may have been a clumsy metaphor for something that is completely beyond our understanding or conception (even beyond the capabilties of CGI) but I think you need to look beyond that and try to imagine what they were trying to convey.

I think I was possibly a it harsh there. Ha ha. I didn't hate the film by any means, I quite enjoyed it. Given the whole concept of space and time is pretty mind bending they dealt with it pretty well I guess.

I just watched The Lion King, i really enjoyed it (don't think i've seen it since seeing it at the cinema on its oriinal release in 1994). 5/5

I love these hand-drawn Disney animated films; mostly prefer them to the computer-generated animated films. Other than The Lion King, particular favourites are Beauty and the Beast (my personal favourite), Aladdin, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Jungle Book. (I've mentioned earlier that I saw the live-action version of The Jungle Book in the cinema when it came out a few months ago; enjoyed it and looking forward to the live-action version of Beauty and the Beast coming out next March).

The Warthog (Pumba) was the best character on The Lion King.

Star Trek 2-3: The Wrath of Khan, & The Search For Spock are what I just saw 5/5, although Uhura's lack of appearing on TSFS was disappointing.

She was in the scenes on the approach to spacedock, the torpedo room order from Morrow, Kirk's little party/wake for Spock, transporting them aboard Enterprise and then at Vulcan - so she was in a fair few scenes

Not going to argue with you there. Just that The Wrath Of Khan proper takes me back.

The entire battle of the Mutara Nebula is basically submarine warfare with spacecraft - though Spock did not need to actually die

Comedown - a fairly statndard slasher type horror film but it made a change that it's set in a Londin tower block and the protagonists are a bunch of British teenagers, it makes a change from American college kids in a backwoods cabin. Not my type of film but really not that bad either. 5.5/10

Worst film I've seen in a while. The story was either very derivative or completely non existent I couldn't tell as the script was awful. It wasn't funny. I think there was supposed to be jokes somewhere but they were very contrived rather than coming naturally. I didn't even smile; neither did the kids. One walked out and went up to his room.

Totally devoid of special effects or clever cinematography. The whole film was "flat" Yes it was animated but it looked like something from Nick Jr rather than from the same people that brought us Despicable Me.

Character wise I couldn't care. No one was likeable or even on screen for any significant length of time to form any sort of relationship with. I think it suffered from too many characters. Each of course were generic copies.

Suffice to say. Please don't watch it.

Secret Life of Pets -5/10

Watched Jungle Book (2016) and was suitably impressed. I went in with a little bit of a closed mind and many preconceptions. Other than the two songs that didn't quite fit with the film (its not a musical) I rather enjoyed it. They did justice to the original film as well as the book. Mowgli really made the film. I think without his performance it wouldn't have worked. My only issue was the voice-overs were a little disjointed. Hard to animate lip syncing when the animals are more realistic and I think there is a trend to use popular actors than voices that fit.

Jungle Book (2016) 6/10

Woke Up Dead was the film my brother recorded hoping for a zombie film as the discription suggested, it was utter rubbish, it was like it tried to be rubbish even, nothing much to do with zombies at all, don't understand why SyFy aired it.
Worst zombie film I've seen and that is saying alot! 0/5

The Sand, film about hairy sand at a beach, eating beach party goers the next morning, only a few good scenes, largely lacking though. 2/5

It, a Stephen King film about Pennywise the Clown, reasonably good horror, I enjoyed the story about how the kids coped with the bullies more than the clown though.

Robots - brilliant film, fast moving, funny and incredibly detailed (e.g. the signs on the toilet doors - plug and socket), I think you'd need to watch at half speed to spot everything that goes on in the background. The baby making scene was fantastic. 7.5/10

I'm seeing a lot of animation on this thread - by no means a bad thing (except with Secret Pets).

WALL•E: 8.5/10
This is an absolutely brilliant movie. I like the overall message - but imagine if there was no dialogue whatsoever...

Watched Hancock last night about an alcoholic superhero. Really enjoyed it to be honest, up there with Guardians Of The Galaxy and Deadpool as bizarre takes on the genre.

Another important historical detail in Monty Python and the Holy Grail that very few films set in that period get right is the use of coconut shells, because of course horses hadn't been invented in King Arthur's time.

Well, certainly not the wireless ones we're familiar with today.

There was a lack of horses before the Norman Invasion, coconuts got carried over here by birds which is common for seeds.

It's Star Trek's 50th birthday today, and not one channel is showing 'The Man Trap' or 'The Cage', I'm disappointed.

The Paradise Syndrone (or something like that) was the virus film I saw on Horrorthis afternoon. 3/5

I've seen the first two Hobbit films on TV, 4/5, the third (Hobbit Battle of Five Armies) one is a whopping £6 in shops though, is it worth it?

I've heard complaints about these films being too long (the book is only about 300-500 pages long) but I enjoyed all of them and have re-watched them a few times. If I were you, I'd get it and you can return it if you don't like it.

Quite a few to catch up on:

Dallas Buyers Club - superb. Matthew McConaughey & Jared Leto offer up what must be performances of their career and rightly were rewarded with Oscars. The physical transformation both actors undertake is remarkable however their performances as the lead characters is incredible and mesmeric. A very good film. it may be a little advanced for some of the posters here.

Edge of Tommorrow / Live Die Repeat - Tom Cruise & Emily Blunt are decent in a solid sci fi action film which is ambitious in scope but doesn't quite get there for me.

A Walk In The Woods - Gentle ( very gentle) comedy starring Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. Not a good use of the talents of both starring actors.

The Campaign - Political satire starring Will Ferrell & Zach Galifianakis offering the usual Will Ferrell humour and sexual innuendo enlivened by the chemistry between the leads. middling.

Argo - Directed, produce & starring Ben Affleck which won 3 Oscars including best picture. It deals with the rescue of 6 US embassy staff in hiding after the Iranian take over of their embassy and despite a few historical inaccuracies it is a very good film. An excellent old fashioned thriller.

Hangover part III - It is the third and final installment in The Hangover trilogy and the worst of the lot and just not very good. They tried to be more dark but it just didn't wash.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - Holmes and Watson travel across Europe with a Gypsy adventuress to foil a plot by their nemesis, Professor Moriarty, to instigate a war - it is decent enough, the cast is good but it isn't quite as good as the first film.

From what I understand it was more a case of rewriting history.

Argo I enjoyed, Edge Of Tomorrow I enjoyed. The Hobbit films look amazing but are mostly boring. Like a film version of the game No Mans Sky.
