VP185s are still Valentas, just not as gas-guzzling as the originals.

They certainly are not valenta's! they are completely different engine to a completely new design!

Have you actually seen one??? they sound totally different too!

Better than a Vomiter

That's a matter of opinion! :p

I'd rather have a Voyager, any day over an MTU HST.*

*I've only had a relatively short experience of refurbished HSTs so far, on part of a Reading-Paddington-Oxford trip, during the Rugby chaos.

As soon as I got on the very first one, the first thing that struck me, was the over-excessive lighting... Just why-o-why do they need to be so bright??

Coming back from Paddington, I sat in a not very nice individual FC ref-seat
in the very rear carriage, thankfully for me not for long, as the TM informed me that the carriages further up the train were warmer, and I had a seat in a very luxurious un refurbished buffet car.

Side note- It was very odd running through Reading platform 4 non-stop.

A bit like the 142s being not real - all re-engined and 'bent'. Where are all the Leyland TL11s? :-P

Don't do em for the engines dude, only for the quality bolted track thrash, hence why the bashing routes are Meadowhall - Barnsley, Exeter - Barnstaple and Rochdale - Man Vic via Oldham 8)

might be going to exeter with buddies this weekend (Yeoford - Exeter Central), will probably get a 142 Pacer.

Everybody going on the Pacer's between Barnstaple - Exmouth, look out for the one with a dodgy door at a cab end. Next time I'm on it (have been on that particular one twice now), I'll list the number code.

At Westbury, there is a based 142 in the sidings, which, from a HST departing the stations, looks like a cross between the 150 interior and the new HST interior.

--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
I go to Westbury station every fortnight (not spotting or anything) where my dad picks me up who lives near Dilton Marsh.

Definitely still at least one Valenta running round on EMT. It passed me at Trent the other night. Sounded lovely! Seriously hope it's still around when we eventually get round to learning HST's!

43046 and 43083 are still spinning around with Valentas in, probably the last two to be done as they were refurbed last, 43064 also still got a valenta and out and about. Other two Valentas were 43054 and 43081 although I think these have gone to NH for VP fittting. 43066 already had a power unit swap, it's original Valenta being replaced by an ex FGW VP185 power unit.
