43001 (one of the prototype powercars) was cut up 17 years ago.

Wasn't the powercar used at the original barbie livery launch renumbered 001 for a few hours and images of this used in some of the FGW publicity material in the late nineties?

A normal HST was a Valenta - those loud screamy things.

A current HST has an MTU, a not so loud thing.

gner ABOUT 50% of the fllet are valenta I think.

MML have 046, 064 and 083 definatley. 054 and 081 were also Valentas but I think there off to recieve VP185's now

I thought we were enthusiasts on this forum, surely most of us prefer the Valenta. I personally couldn't really care less about reliability figures.

Some people must except change, move on, its life!

When I want to get home I'm not overly bothered on the traction as long as it doesn't break down. Don't see what the mega problem is with MTUs anyway. They aren't that bad. Better than a Vomiter
