look on the brightside at least you know tomorrow it will be on.diagram 2 show in the post with.diagramssburnley:792726 said:OK, thanks for that clarification.
So if I have worked it out correctly from sonic2009's post, it was on diagram 1 on 6th, and working forward to the 21st, missing out Saturdays and Sundays ..... it is back on Diagram 1 again!!
I can see me booking a trip to Gloucester or Cheltenham. It's an exciting life!
Sorry to disappoint all this theorising but it just ain't that simple. In practice, a 2-car 158 will work any of the 3-car diagrams when units are in short supply. They will frequently cover 150 diagrams as well. As for cyclic diagramming, this is purely theoretical. On a given day, the diagram it works will be decided by the depot if that's where it ended up the night before, or by the Control if it has been outstabled somewhere like Westbury or Gloucester. 158's rarely work beyond Taunton these days except on a Saturday night.
There is a 158 diagram to Paignton now, the 0800 CDF-PGN and return and it does usually produce a Class 158.
It's probably a good thing it's limited to 75mph, it runs early enough then. If it could run at 90mph the train would spend half the time waiting time in stations.
