1545 now starts a minute early and calls at Letchworth! :D

Fantastic! That'll get me home early!

This is the document that shows all of the new timetable changes
http://twitpic.com/4za7gn

interesting about the 16:57 Kings Cross to WGC

Same as the 1757 then. I didn't see the need for the Hadley Wood stop until I realised it is purely to stop the train getting stuck behind the 1740 MOG-WGC service. I guess there is a 1640 service too.

Sadly, it usually does get delayed anyway near Hatfield as it slows to a crawl after the slow has lost time accumulated over the whole journey.

Because it's mainly used by the 313s and they're restricted to 6 cars because of the NCL, no need to extend it at all plus it can easily take a 4 car if needed.

I don't see the point in the re-instating the 1544, still, this new change has worked out well for me otherwise, with better connections available to and from Kings Cross from my hometown.

I don't know about 'no need'. I'd extend it. Not as a priority, but it'd be on the list to get done.

I still have the following six stations done as a higher priority though:

Meldreth, Shepreth, Foxton, Waterbeach, Littleport and Watlington.

The end result would mean 8 car services could run between London and Kings Lynn which would deliver a lot more seats, it would also mean that the Cambridge Slows ie the ones which stop at Welwyn GC can be strengthened to 8 cars as the current restrictions would no longer apply.

As the next lot of stations to be extended to 8 car operation, this would include:

Gordon Hill, Cuffley, Hertford North, Hadley Wood, New Barnet.

I could buy that.

I'm amazed that I didn't notice that FCC's Twitter was active again.. appears to be run by someone called Ally - seems to be providing a level of interaction similar to tocs such as LM and Chiltern - about time too!

New Barnet seems to be 8 car London bound trains only.
The Northbound platform 4 has a set of point just before and after the platforms, in fact platform 4 is slightly smaller then platform 1.
Although Platform 3 is 8 car.

New Southgate has had New VDU screen added for 4 and 8 car.
The ones on platform 4 are in operation (The mirror was removed) platform 1 shows not in service.
8 car trains have been stopping at New Southgate for a few years (although the end coach was not visible due to a slight curve of the platform on platform1.

Network Rail documentation disagrees slightly as New Barnet CAN take a 8 car on all 4 platforms although Platform 4 on the Down Slow can take a 8 car just as it's 160 metres - the same length as a 8 car EMU.

Now Hadley Wood is strange as it can easily take a 8 car on the Up and Down Slows but is restricted to 6 car operation on the Up and Down Fasts!

Probably to releive the 15:52 kx - Cambridge service which is 4 coaches and is always full&standing whenever I have used it (Even when joining at Stevenage). So removing Letchworth & Royston passengers will make more room.
