Because it's mainly used by the 313s and they're restricted to 6 cars because of the NCL, no need to extend it at all plus it can easily take a 4 car if needed.
I don't know about 'no need'. I'd extend it. Not as a priority, but it'd be on the list to get done.
I still have the following six stations done as a higher priority though:
Meldreth, Shepreth, Foxton, Waterbeach, Littleport and Watlington.
The end result would mean 8 car services could run between London and Kings Lynn which would deliver a lot more seats, it would also mean that the Cambridge Slows ie the ones which stop at Welwyn GC can be strengthened to 8 cars as the current restrictions would no longer apply.
As the next lot of stations to be extended to 8 car operation, this would include:
Gordon Hill, Cuffley, Hertford North, Hadley Wood, New Barnet.

New Barnet seems to be 8 car London bound trains only.
The Northbound platform 4 has a set of point just before and after the platforms, in fact platform 4 is slightly smaller then platform 1.
Although Platform 3 is 8 car.
New Southgate has had New VDU screen added for 4 and 8 car.
The ones on platform 4 are in operation (The mirror was removed) platform 1 shows not in service.
8 car trains have been stopping at New Southgate for a few years (although the end coach was not visible due to a slight curve of the platform on platform1.
I don't see the point in the re-instating the 1544, still, this new change has worked out well for me otherwise, with better connections available to and from Kings Cross from my hometown.
