Just wondering how many if any (apart from Cambridge) have heard anything yet?

I'm waiting patiently just though I'd ask :)

I did my final interview in March.

Got a phone call from recruitment last week and have been given a start date of 7th January. Just waiting on my medical date at the moment.

I am going to be based in Bedford but they asked whether I wanted Bedford or Blackfriars so chose Bedford.

Evening gents,

Me too. I had call about Blackfriars the other week and have been given a provisional start date of Jan 7th as well. Medical is Thursday morning. Not 100% about it as i'm of 'rugby player' build ie: rugby players of the 70's! I'm fit but my bmi will be high which may be a concern for them.

However, if it's any consolation, it does show that things are starting to move and even though we're knocking on the doors of November, it still leaves a couple of months for other vacancies to crop up prior to the next training start date in Jan. Easy for me to say now i know but, sit tight chaps, it'll happen.

Congrats Rey89iceman on your job offer. I hope the medical goes OK too. You must be very excited to get started. I also applied for Bedford but as of yet I've no news/phone call yet. I'm hoping a call comes soon. If it don't may I ask if you have a contact number for GOVIA recruitment (who got in touch with you) so I could get in touch with them myself? I've struggled to find one for them and only have an email contact for FCC which as we know is no more. Cheers.

Im also starting at Bedford on 7th Jan pending Medical next week. I was told Blackfriars but they then offered me Bedford.

Good luck Pepperami. Since I've been in the pool, I have noticed recently that things are starting to pick up. It might be that Brighton is just around the corner..

Cheers rey89iceman. Much appreciated mate. I'll check my inbox for those details. Yeah I sat my DM/final interview in March of this year too. Hopefully they will shed some light on what is happening and for me too. Cheers again.

I had their old email address rey89iceman so I've emailed them via their new one so thanks for letting me know of it. I'm hoping no news is good news. Cheers again.

Got a call from GTR today.

My medical was supposed to be this morning but all paperwork was sent to an old address of mine. My own fault. Now just waiting for my new date for medical which I suppose will be next week or the following.

Almost there :D

Had mine this morning and was passed F1 - 'fit for role' so it's just references now and roll on January.

As mentioned before, i would imagine there will be a few more phone calls about places relatively soon. We all know that there are going to be more trains running as per the franchise takeover and now that the dust has settled on the changeover i'd like to think that things will start moving a bit more now.

All the best.

From the inside I was speaking to someone from the training school and next year there will be a big push for new trainees, they were under the impression of over 100 people.

This also tallies with the fact that at bedford alone 8 drivers have just been made up to driver trainers.

Good luck to all those waiting.

I'm at Bedford in January - taken approx a year all in - the phone call was a bit of a surprise as well - a welcome one - looking forward to it - Medical was this morning and passed, pending urine samples of course which should be fine - even whilst on antibiotics!

As long as those driver trainers are not on a secondment or still have their link position it will open up vacancies but you will most likely find they are on a secondments that means their driving positions will not be filled as long as RD work is active!
