Gob off all you like, I've got a very thick skin, I love winding people up on this forums, its so easy.

All the points have been made before, you've gobbed off before. We don't need to display of mob rule again. If you think your worth it carry on, I suspect NR will be sending staff by coach along that route soon too.

A troll? No, that would be a little strong. I don't accuse people of making, 'Asshole comments'.

A trade union? Technically a cartel, but a legal one. It's basically a band of members that engage in responsible collective bargaining that defends rights of workers, while ensuring job security through responsible negotiation.

You all going on strike again? Now there's a surprise.

Whos "you"?

Has anyone ever told you that you are very condescending?

I am not a driver so I have nothing to do with this whatsoever.

Yes I can be very condescending, but some people do need to be talked down to especially when they accuse others of making 'Asshole comments' or accusing other people of being condescending.

You?

Yep, should have been we don't need the display of mob rule. It has been noted those that agree with you are all railway staff and/or union members. And you love telling us lesser mortals how much you are worth. Well that's your right, and good luck to you. Of course the wonderful thing about the market system is us customers actually decide whether you are worth it. The wonderful thing about the internet we also get to tell you as well. Isn't it fun? You might not like it, but life is tough sometimes.

Well actually I haven't going into this dispute and said whether I support it, or don't. You just assume I don't. I'm not going to go into it, because its a waste of time. I'm just objecting to rounding on me once again with all your mates. IE the mob

Oh this forum, I would say that the majority of people are indeed members of staff and/or union members.

The interesting thing is there are a large proportion of the passengers who are also in support. Had some very interesting conversations with our passengers tonight, most not happy but not all condemning.......quite a few in full support

You are quite right, the market system is fun.

Still havent answered any of the questions mate...you were rounded on,from different grades, because of what you said, not cos what i did.You assumed, and you got bit.

You create your own problems mate on here,no one else needs to do so.I havent mentioned once how much I think drivers are worth.I dont mind people telling me what they think, thats their right...I object to troll posts goading an argument all the time.

By posting "You going on strike again" instantly gets staff members backs up...we HATE strikes..when will you get that?

And,I think ALL grades should be treated with respect by their employer, and not have to wait for drivers to do something..disgusting situation

You are absolutely right!

The strange thing, people have automatically stereotyped our drivers because they are taking this action.

Correct me if I am wrong, ungreat, but I think this is the first time for a good few years that our drivers have taken this step. Perhaps, dare I say it, post BR?

Its actually the OTHER grades who have come close to going out over the past 4 years and certainly we never got close to doing that under Thameslink or WAGN either.

And,I think ALL grades should be treated with respect by their employer, and not have to wait for drivers to do something..disgusting situation

Shhhhh you will be in that mob again!

Here here by the way!

Tom,spot on..there has been NO strike action under WAGN or FCC..and still isn't

If anything happens,it will be an overtime ban by drivers..which amounts to working what we are contracted to..hardly action at all!

I'll admit, my comment was provocative. But then so are strikes I guess? Comments like mine will be heard quite regularly among the public, as you know. I think the key point I made is responsibility. Even Bob Crow admits he uses the system to 'jack up the prices'.

But with all this subsidy, and high ticket costs, not to mention NR sending staff by coach, I do wonder where its going to end like many others. And no its not all the drivers, or NR, or government. Its a combination of those things.

For us passengers, its rather worrying what the network might look like in 20 years.

The RMT (and I know ASLEF is involved here) has had 100 disputes so far and is considered by far the most militant union. So if people stereotype drivers and other staff, they probably have good reason to.

Ralph Darlington, professor of employment relations at Salford University:

"I think we could characterise the RMT as one of the most militant and left-wing unions in Britain. The politicisation has come about in the face of the challenges which they feel they have faced."

Ken Livingstone 'RMT executive behaved more like a "protection racket than a proper industrial union", in a BBC interview Red ken said 'They make a mockery of the trade union movement'

Tim O'Toole former boss of LUL

'"At times, I did feel like I was inserted into an episode of Life on Mars. They would want to discuss socialism and worker solidarity. I just thought, hang on, we have a simple problem to deal with here," says the former managing director of London Underground.

Some minor agreement would be made into the big issue of the day, he says. "You could see Scargill coming down the tunnel - it was ridiculous." '

The RMT is so left will its even been shunned by the TUC and New Labour!

Can you tell me (with no bull****,) exactly when Thameslink/FCC last went on strike? (and I mean the Bedford/Brighton route?)

To my recollection, which is over a long time, never!

Oh and don't forget the Sutton Loop, we are always forgotten!!

The RMT is so left will its even been shunned by the TUC and New Labour!

Funny that!

The TUC have just supported the RMT's motions on the Peoples Charter, Vestas workers, piracy and the Lisbon Treaty

The BBC has obviously gone a little strong on the old shunning if you ask me

It's cool now Metroland has admitted he was trolling. No worries. But he does have some points, he is after all a punter who is as ****ed off as most of us that all this is happening.

A bit to political for my liking (quoting union stuff) but there you go! Everyone is entitled to a point. :)

Regular readers know I slag the far left and far right off at times, and generally don't mention what political parties I support! (Not even sure myself!).

So I reckon it all evens out in the end.

Trolling? Nope, just like to get those post numbers up.

****ed off? Not especially, concerned, very concerned and I'm not the only one.

Believe me (even though I am a railwayman/trade union member) we are all deeply concerned with the way our little company has gone. From conversations with staff from WAGN they feel exactly the same. Both our companies were happy plodding along and suddenly in the past 4 years the wheels have well and truely fell off.

Whether thats down to First, the new management, size of the franchise or the day of the week is debateable but certainly things have gone pear shaped and sadly its long before this round of pay negotiations. Industrial relations are poor, staff morale has gone through the floor when you put the two together, the outcome becomes clear from a mile away!. It should be noted again that under WAGN and Thameslink we never got close to the situation when we felt that any sort of action would be even thought about and whether we like it or not, the change to FCC has certainly not been smooth no matter how much pink they put on the trains.

It comes to something when FOUR YEARS after the end of Thameslink and WAGN, there are still a huge proportion who sing their praises and would quite happily revert back to the days when life was quiet and boring. Not saying that I want to get rid of WAGN, ungreat, you have a lot of good guys but our side is still better :)

We all want this to go away and be left working for our little company, plodding along like we used to. If this is a lasting change to working on the railway then we all should be concerned!

The vitriol I heard against FCC last night from passengers was quite astonishing. I wasn't living in England when there was WAGN and T/L so I can't compare but a very substantial proportion of the travelling public would take them back in a heartbeat.

But the thing is I've heard of the old WAGN nickname - We're Are Going Nowhere but did they actually get better towards the end?

Not that I have any issues with the GN being partnered with the TL but the natural partner for the GN is the WA route, it always has been and always will be that way.

FCC under Elaine Holt beat WAGN hands-down, as far as this commuter's concerned. WAGN got reasonably reliable, but the cleaning and security on the trains was a joke - particularly at weekends, and there was precious little done about overcrowding (yes, I realise this may not be down to the TOC).

When FCC started, reliability, cleanliness, security and station facilities all improved - and the extra carriages, together with the evening peak restrictions - meant that you could always get a seat (the evening peak restrictions may be unpopular among irregular travellers, but are great for commuters). A load of extra services on the shoulder-peak as well (the late night fast-to-Biggleswades are very welcome!)

There's been some negatives too - the reduced opening hours, the ridiculous ATM scheme, catering withdrawal, pink stickers everywhere, but on the whole, I'd have that era FCC (on the GN route anyway) over WAGN.

It's gone downhill, though. There's been some seriously unpleasant RPIs around, and some gateline staff too (although the latter has improved). The PCSOs have disappeared, and the prices keep going up that little bit too much.

Losing the PCSOs was no bad thing, but it would be nice to see real police officers patrolling and not simply on the train because they're after a free ride!

Wagn had hired some very dodgy RPIs near the end of its franchise (when it suddenly wanted to get some revenue in) and FCC did get rid of a lot of them and start over. Of late, some of the proactive RPIs have gone and been replaced with timid people that don't do anything. They let everyone off sitting in first class and avoid eye contact with anyone that might possibly give some grief back.
