I'm the same. In the past I have gone to some pretty extreme lengths to avoid the result only to hear someone talking about it in a fuel station on the way home to watch it.

Actually, as with most Sporting events, I much prefer to know the result in advance so I can decide whether it might be worth watching later.
Admittedly, with most Sporting events, that's pretty rare.

Before that, it was Fisichella winning in 2005 - his team-mate would lift the title at the end of the season.

Then it was Coulthard in 2003, Irvine in 1999 and Coulthard again in 1997. That's as far as I can be bothered to go.

Not exactly 9-in-10 is it? Over the last 15 complete seasons that's a failure rate of 1-in-3, not 1-in-10 - and three of the five were from the UK :roll:

I wish the BBC would get their timings together. Why should people depending on iPlayer have to wait until 4pm for something that started at 4am?

(I doubt it really was 4am, but you know what I mean )

They can't put something on the iPlayer before it's actually been on the TV.

I like the new one, it's like the pre-97 intros where they showed classic moments in the background. The 2009-11 one is a little out of date now given one of the cars featured is quite obviously a BMW Sauber.

The BBC tries to hard I reckon, they have been for the past year.

I mean whats with that animation they had on before the opening titles, that flower thing and the butterfly?

I tried watching the quali highlights yesterday. Practically gave up after 1/4 hour due to no action and some rubbish about playing pool.

If you're only going to show a highlights show, then at least ensure it only shows highlights. Save the other features for a show where you can show them without losing any action.

Lets be fair, the program was 75 minutes, qualifying is something like 45 minutes (over the course of 1 hour when live). There was bound to be some faff, it's not like the BBC didn't have faff when it was live anyway, If you only want the action and it is on iplayer, skip forward!

Agreed. I skipped through most of it on I-Player, but that's not an option you have when watching live. Really, all you need is, finish, results, quick interview, possibly a bit of analysis if something unusual happens, championship, date of next race, credits. The pre-1996 version managed it in 3-5 minutes. They also got going very quickly, generally showing the grid as an overlay on the cars lining up after the parade lap. That gave a guaranteed 30 minutes of action within a 40-minute programme. Still, I suppose some people like all the analysis and background, so it had to go in.

It's also worth noting that the pre-1996 version was sometimes done entirely from Television Centre, but they hid it very well.

Schumacher in 3rd, Webber 4th. Vettel is in 6th, Eyebrow Man in 9th, Massa right down in 12th. Not sure where misery guts (Raikkonen) is.

So that, and with the possibility of rain tomorow should present an interesting race. Shame the BBC are only showing highlights of this one.

On that note, do we know which races Auntie Beeb is showing in full?

I imagine button to finish higher in championship, as he makes less errors and stays calm. Hamilton needs to mature more to succeed.

I did a Print Screen of the list when advertised after the last race last year. See attached.

As for Raikkonen, he finished 5th but after a gearbox change had a five-place penalty and thus starts 10th. This is very unfortunate because his time was exactly the same as Webber's (I think both were 0.242 short of Hamilton) but was set after Webber's.

'Twas very pleasing to see Schumi qualify so well. I honestly didn't expect him to beat Rosberg here, but I did expect 6th or better. Conversely, I didn't think Button would pip him to 2nd. Given his grid slot, and the fantastic starts Mercedes have become known for, could he possibly lead after the first corner?

Please don't post the results on here until after the BBC Highlights have been shown!

That list has ten races; it was only a week or so ago I saw a list which only had nine marked live.

It also claims they will show the full Australian race. They didn't - it was only highlights.
