Extra carriages on NXEA services

From the December timetable change the extra 321s from London Midland will be diagrammed into regular service on the GEML, with the resulting changes:

Other changes being introduced to provide customers with an improved choice of services include:

08.02 (Mon-Fri) Liverpool Street to Colchester Town will call additionally at Kelvedon
16.30 (Mon-Fri) Ipswich to Colchester re-timed to depart at 16.32 and is extended to run through as an additional service to London Liverpool Street
19.00 (Sundays) Liverpool Street to Norwich will call additionally at Chelmsford, Colchester and Manningtree

The Department for Transport announced in April 2009 a major boost to rail capacity on National Express East Anglia services to and from London Liverpool Street. This will be achieved through the construction of 120 new rail carriages and the transfer of 68 additional modern refurbished carriages to provide a total of 188 extra carriages to be added to East Anglia services. The 120 new carriages will be introduced on Stansted Airport and Cambridge – Liverpool Street services from later in 2011. The 68 refurbished carriages will be introduced on the Great Eastern mainline route through North Essex into Liverpool Street with most improvements expected to be introduced from December 2010.

BBC Look East also reported that the improvements in 2010 will include more carriages on Naarich services. No doubt an expected outcome of the recent 'consultation'

Good to see the 19.08 Liv St to Clacton gets an extra 4-cars. This train & it's predesesor until 2005 the 19.02 have always been absolutley rammed as a single 321/360 but unfortunatley until now there has never been anything after the peak to strengthen this service.
