Was a decision reached as to whether VT coaches at Barton Hill, Bristol were suitable to be introduced as Set HD08 ?
It was in shed other week then coupled to a 37/4 so maybe testing stuff works but been back in sidings a week now .Its all now at Worksop undergoing preparatory work.
Tfw operate mk4s on the Manchester service, there is a thread on this topic. The mark 4s have a more heavy exam / refurb coming up and as such the set would cover for the other 7 (now 6 due to a crash) while that work is done. It would also be covering for the missing HD02 set due to that one having been in a collision. What would the set be used for

Many thanks.82220 12526 11316 10305 12308 12215
This info is generally on the train database (yes it's a spreadsheet, not a database), however it appears to have fallen out of date, updated as per:Please can someone point me in the right direction for finding out the individual carriage numbers for HD08. Thanks!
Assuming 82204 (previously listed as on HD08) is now spare.82220 12526 11316 10305 12308 12215
Half of its already in service as HD02. 08 will be at least 12 months now I believe, the original 3 HD08 vehicles will be ready before that but the 3 remaining vehicles from Leominster (if they arent written off) will require extensive repairs or replacement.Any further update as to when HD08 May be ready for service ?
Some of the sets still running around in Red ? At some point, weren’t they going to be painted Black ?
Into the classy white with red doors as per the rest of the fleet, or the long ago mentioned black with red doors, ridding the chance of a uniform look?Half of its already in service as HD02. 08 will be at least 12 months now I believe, the original 3 HD08 vehicles will be ready before that but the 3 remaining vehicles from Leominster (if they arent written off) will require extensive repairs or replacement.
HD01/02/03 are all still red but should head off for repaint early next year one by one. Unfortunately the original plan of HD08 releasing a set will no longer be possible.
I believe its now planned that at least some will head over either as spare parts or additional vehicles. With LNER shortening their sets maybe the spare coaches could be acquired by TfW ?
Black and red still as far as im aware like the more recently repainted locos.Into the classy white with red doors as per the rest of the fleet, or the long ago mentioned black with red doors, ridding the chance of a uniform look?
Yes, plenty going on. Discussion around HD08 in that thread around page 140Is there any sign of progress on the 8th set being introduced ?
Thats not going to happen as theyre not cleared Chester to Warrington.A nice set on the Holyhead to Manchester diagrams would be handy in the summer
AFAIK its still not changed from being expected October/November time and once its out and abour it will enable HD01-03 to head off for their heavy overhaul.Any sign of progress on the 8th set being introduced ?
With the external red/white livery on sets HDO1-03 looking evermore shabby, are there any plans for a refresh this year ?
It hasn’t ”been a while” since this post on 17/05/2026:Any more updates regarding HD08? It's been a while...

Everything is about 12 months behind following the Leominster incident and some of HD08s vehicles moving to HD02.
Ok no worries. It hasn’t ”been a while” since this post on 17/06/2026:
It's in the recent RAIL Magazine. I read it this morning. More mk4s have gone to EMR for scrap.I read recently that TfW have bought mk4 coach 12467 from Beacon Rail and it's at Worksop.
Also l read somewhere else that 2 DVTs have also been acquired - it didn't say which ones or where they are.
Presumably all to do with the fleet refurbishment, though.
