Good thing there wasn't a great big pointless Doric Arch to get in the way of the evacuees and emergency services!
A couple of people asked where the taxi rank is relative to the station. It is directly underneath the plaza where everyone was evacuated to.
Under a vastly thick concrete slab. I am sure there would have to be a conflagration of Dantean proportions to burn through that before people were moved.

A rather over zealous PCSO threatened to arrest the MOM who was trying to go about his business liaising with the fire chief during this incident.
Commuters would walk through the Stygian pits that curse their very souls if it meant catching the 1732 in time.
Yeah, we know now the building wasn't on fire. But when Inspector Sands went to evacuate not every person in the building knew where or how big the fire was or could potentially get. Better to play safe?
And yeah commuters still walked through a burning underground station.
I think it's a Mobile Operations Manager, a Network Rail position that co-ordinates efforts on-site to get services running again after an incident.Excuse my ignorance but what's an MOM in this context? A Station Manager of some sort?

At all incidents the RIO will be the lead railway representative, co-ordinating the rail industry input and providing site specific information.
The RIO will be readily identifiable and make themselves known to the Emergency Services Incident Commanders.
MOM and RIO are part of the same job but RIO is a qualification that is required before assuming that duty. Last I remember the RIO is silver level within the command structure set up with control being gold and resources on the ground being bronze.
He was trying to get him out of the station, not realising he was the MOM (somehow?!)
I don't know how NR is structured, but for us, resources on the ground aren't part of bronze unless they fulfil a management role (Bronze triage, Bronze parking etc). Silver command generally aren't on scene, but sit in the incident control room. The ICR therefore doesn't become gold, but there will be a gold cell within it (Gold Commander). The gold commanders all meet regularly, and immediately above them is COBRA.
They do... they wear a police style vest with "Mobile Operations Manager" over the back, and MOM over the front...

A PlaStiCOp has the same powers of arrest as anyone on the street, i.e. only for indictable offences and only with direct evidence, so cannot arrest "on suspicion".Does a PCSO have powers of arrest or is it simply wait here while I go an get a proper police person?
Whilst I was waiting I did some shopping - and twice saw Commuters trying to go through to the private back entrances of shops in order to get behind the cordon. What they expected to achieve, with (audibly) no trains running, by this I don't know.
On what charge do we think the PCSO wanted to arrest the MOM?
