You know the Offside Rule is useless when that Spain goal was correctly declared legitimate <(<(

Not two minutes earlier Spain were cheating in their own box with a clear incidence of shirt pulling
Spain are a bunch of dirty cheating barstools and it's obvious to anyone they go down with a light breeze.
We saw it in 2010 in the WC Final where they tried to get Dutch players sent off

Alas the prima donnas are through. The trouble with these European refs is that they use rules from the European leagues - no tackling.

Look at the card count - 5-0 to Croatia. Fair? I think not <(

There's probably a super-secret script somewhere that says Spain and Germany have to meet in the Final. Only Germany have to fight their way there whereas Spain get babied - and continue to do so in the final when Gomez scores a legitimate goal which is then ruled out <(

Or something like that anyway.

But ....

Goal line officials. What are they there for? Decoration purposes?

Sergio Ramos slides in on the Croat #17 (I can't spell his name) inside the box, right under the nose of the GLA. Not only does Ramos fail to win the ball, he fouls the player in the process. However the GLA gives no advice to the referee, and it's the ref who gives a corner.

In all the Europa Cup/CL/International matches I've seen that have used GLA, I have not seen them once give advice to the referee, or give an decsion themselves. If all they do is stand there, then why are they used?
Bearing in mind that the GLAs do not signal to the referee, but communicate to them by pressing a button on the baton, and then speaking to them, how do you know that they have not 'given a decision'. Apart from the fact that they cannot actually 'give' a decision, they can only advise. The decision is made by the referee and only by the referee.

Just like the EPL I guess those at the top of the pecking order get favourable decisions more often than those at the bottom

France have been acting like they're allergic to the Swedish penalty area. Alas they're getting the bulk of the refereeing decisions but hardly surprising given that this ref comes from Portugal.

0-0 at Half Time but Sweden should be ahead

I thought England were supposed to be playing to win? They're barely playing to draw

And how many more times will the team kill their own attacks by passing to Joe Hart from the centre circle?

Oh. They are. Shrek just scored

To be fair France have been bad enough to facilitate England playing for a draw

Now if only Olof Mellberg was England, they need someone like him to command the defence without commanding other people's wives.

Meanwhile I still need someone (or three) to get a yellow card :(

Sweden 1 - 0 France

Ibrahimovic (sp?) with the best goal of Euro 2012 thus far and Sweden deserve it
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
So England got away with it eh? I bet this will never be mentioned again after today

It was marginal, and doesn't help with a white kit, but the ball was over the line.

However, I thought I spotted an offside in the build up anyway!

Sweden v France hasn't been a bad game actually although I'd like Sweden to get another goal.

Also no more yellow cards please :p

What did I tell you? ITV have spotted it as well now!

Normally they just cut to ads ;)

It'll be interesting to see how that incident is handled. Will it be a travesty a la Lampard? Or will it be a case of you win some, you lose some (or similar)? Something tells me the latter

But ultimately there shouldn't have been a goal, because there was an offside, so the results was correct. Ukraine can complain all they want; if it had gone in, we would have had a far better case than they do now.

And now, the world's most blatant time-waster with throw-ins has been booked... for time-wasting on a throw-in. Yes Cashley, I mean you <(

Sweden have scored a second goal. This means England will win the group and if Ukraine score France are out

edit: Ukraine didn't manage to score (just heard it's full time on sports extra)

If Ukraine had scored then France would have still gone through as head to head counts before goal difference at the European Championships unlike the World Cup. Ukraine would have needed to win the match to knock France out.

I swear they said on the radio France would go out but it's largely moot (and also retarded that head to head would count before goal difference but that's UEFA for you lol)

Based on the France losing by 2, we could have afforded to lose by 1. Goal difference would have been equal, so goes to goal scored which we had 1 more prior to this game than France.
We've avoided Spain to potentially get a semi with the Germans!(or Greece)

There is also a strange rule where if the two teams playing their last match are equal on points, goal difference and goals scored and no other teams are then the team that goes through is decided by a penalty shootout whereas had the two teams not been playing each other, UEFA coefficient, fair play and the drawing of lots are used.

We've over achieved already in my pre tournament prediction, expected 3rd in group at best,
Got to say Roy plays Boring football, but gets us results, so can't really complain. He's living up to his reputation of getting good results from average teams so far,
Unbeaten so far with 4 wins from 5 in charge.
Harry who???

I expect them to beat Italy and go out to the Germans in the Semi-Final. I would drop Rooney and put Carroll back in up front :p

I hope to God Greece don't progress any further as they are the most boring side ever .....however if they did beat the Germans that could be Englands key to winning the tournament.

Personally, I would play Carroll alongside Rooney against Italy and drop Welbeck instead .....

All good fun being armchair pundits though

Yes thats not a bad idea actually - I could live with that - or perhaps bring Defoe in as well and play with three strikers against the Italians :p

Funny how goal mouth technology isn't being screamed for since the goal against Ingerland wasn't given this evening. Commentator said these things even themselves out! So that makes it okay then??? Would love to have seen it happen the other way round and watch the reaction and the conspiracy theories emerge.

I know I said this earlier, but...

If it was given, we would have a much stronger case than they do at present. Milevskiy (I think) was offside when he received the ball in the first place, prior to his passing to the ball to Devic. England should have had a free kick.

Is this rampant racism I spy? I know it's allowed because it's in a football context, but could you explain.
As for the "goal" - the television replays show nothing definite - as usual. 100% of the ball has to have crossed the line, and, given the camera angles, this could not be proved.
