It sounds closer to cronyism than racism but I meant it in a strictly footballing sense; that he'd have a Portuguese interpretation of the rules, largely that strong tackling was likely to be outlawed. For example he gave a free kick against Mellberg for a shoulder charge that would be legitimate in this country and there were many tough (but fair) challenges from Sweden that were given as French free kicks.
Perhaps it's because I used to play as a defender myself but I've noticed that the game seems to be becoming unbalanced in favour of the striker with the changing of the offside rude, the soft free kicks given and strikers not getting punished for diving as the laws of the game dictate.
I knew England would claim what goes around comes around and it's suddenly ok now. This kind of double standard is why I'm glad England did not get the WC.
I'm called racist yet the hate campaign against Sepp Blatter continues largely (totally?) without proof. You couldn't make it up.
Im sorry i have to disagree SS4, i still play at high non league standard and i can tell you that the game is not unbalanced towards the strikers.

More seriously though, I see your only change from my list other than the order is that you have removed Hart and replaced him with Parker. Do you think Parker would cope with the pressure of taking the last penalty?

I did forget that though; I have played that game for ages.To be honest I wasn't sure who else to pick. If Carroll is on the field, then he may be a better choice, but otherwise I guess it may have to be Rooney and swap him with Parker or even Hart.

In that case, the other member is me!
I played for Brigg Town is 2000/01 in the Northern Counties East League (step 9 on the football pyramid), and I am the proud owner of a NECL championship medal.
However, 12 yellow cards and 1 red card in 30 games just shows how I liked to get stuck in to tackles.

Having seen Scott Parker almost single-handedly try and save West Ham from relegation for two seasons, I'd have no doubt that he can handle the pressure. However, whether he can take a decent penalty is another matter.

Don't you know? The tournament is scripted. He will miss his Penalty against Spain in the Semi-Final Shoot-Out by doing his usual Trick the 'Keeper run-stop-run stunt and watch Casillas literally stand there as he trips on the ball, causing it to move forward about three inches.

Yes, I would turn him down. A team is greater than the sum of its parts and I feel he would cause disharmony within the team.

Blimey theres a suprise XC Driver would be "turning in his cab" if he was still about on the forum.
My worry about Euro 2012 is that the pundits are starting to get carried away about Englands chances after a sensible and cautious initial attitude.
Incidentally what has happened to Harry Redknapp - he was on BBC's panel at the start , but since getting fired by Spurs has disappeared.

It's possibly because England are playing reasonably well. Apart from the mad 15 minutes against Sweden, the team hasn't played badly, and for the most part, kept opposition chances to those outside the box.
My expectations for England coming into the Euros was for England to finish 2nd in the group, then lose in the quarter finals to Spain. However, since we won the group and avoided Spain, I think we have a reasonable chance of getting through to the semi final, as apart from Pirlo, Italy haven't looked that good so far. Trouble is, it will be Germany who knock us out of the tournament (again) if we do beat Italy ....

I can see Italy pumping Ingerland. From a personal point of view
I don't think so - perhaps the Germans but not the Italians.
I'm so glad Germany tanked the Greeks and their boring minimalist (with regard to skill) style of play

Indeed, I imagine it is so more relaxing watching other teams knowing that your own is positively dire.

It's only relaxing when the team you want to lose actually does lose. Scotland are pish but we Dinny deny that, Ingerland on the other hand think they have a right to just turn up to tournaments and win them. MOTD the other night took just 19 seconds to mention 1966, when are you going to stop living off that, because north of the border we don't give a toss about 66 because we're scottish and I will get behind any team that plays Ingerland.

There are plenty of us south of border that would agree with you. As usual though it's join in with the hysteria or be shouted at (or worse)
Both ITV and BBC have been awful in cutting to Ingerland at half time instead of doing what you're supposed to do at half time and talk about the game in progress

As for itv that Adrian what's his face is the worst football presenter I've ever seen, he's gash. Your country's fans are often up themselves about Ingerland even though they are punching above their weight by getting to the knockout stages.

Again, can't fault that. All notion of neutrality goes out of the window but the most arrogant commentator award goes to 5Live's Alan Green and I don't care if I spelt his name right since he can't be bothered to say Oezil's name right nor recognise that the Netherlands can call themselves what they like.

Yes, Italy, as per usual have a squad full of top quality players, but they are pretty much in the same boat as England, in that they are in a transitional period. The only person they have who is playing well is Pirlo, so I have a sneaking feeling that England will be able to beat them and progress to the semi final.
However, we will then meet Germany, and they will knock us out of the tournament.
