Thank you for pointing out why an independent UK, free of the restrictions of the EU, would be in a much better position to negotiate free trade deals which suited both parties, rather than having to buy off some peasant farmers in Belgium, Bulgaria or anywhere else.
If that's the case then you'll have to accept that the EU hasn't forced us in to any deal we haven't wanted as otherwise an MEP such as Farage would have had the power to prevent it.
I didn't realise a single MEP had the power to block legislation.
He had the power to get a better deal for British fishing industry but was absent for 19/20 committee meetings (when he was on the committee) so the British fishing industry wasn't being represented and for some reason the towns that have an economy dependant on fishing seemed to all vote for Brexit. Did Farage help ruin our fishing industry to ensure he got Brexit?
Is there progress; is there vision; does Britain know what to do. In my eyes: no.
There is progress, there is vision and the UK knows what to.
there is progress, there is vision and the uk knows what to.
And that adds as much to the debate as your contribution.
O rly?
What's a Parisian airport got anything to do with the matter in discussion?

Was the person who stood for the Labour Party in the Richmond Park by-election the same person who has written railway books?
of being the first Labour candidate since 1909 of losing a deposit in a by-election, getting just 3.67% of the vote. According to Wikipedia the one policy of note he put forward was to ban toilet paper, perhaps a fitting epitaph to his political career. As others have mentioned, yes, He came fifth out of six in the voting for selecting a Labour candidate for London Mayor, won by Sadiq Khan, and has now achieved the distinctionof being the first Labour candidate since 1909 of losing a deposit in a by-election, getting just 3.67% of the vote. According to Wikipedia the one policy of note he put forward was to ban toilet paper, perhaps a fitting epitaph to his political career.
I don't know the answer to that one. I have never voted for the man but I will not let the actions or inactions of one man colour my view of what is best for the UK for the foreseeable future.
For Labour to win the Richmond seat it would require the Conservatives and Lib Dems to not put forward a candidate and for no independent to stand who is politically aligned with either of those parties..
...and sank a little since you posted! One euro costs 84.40p just now. Was 83.00p earlier today (0335).Oh we'll thanks to Italy, the pound has risen a little bit further.
For Labour to win in Richmond every other politician and member of the electorate would have had to be liquidated and the franchise limited to Corbyn alone. Even then I worry he wouldn't manage to cast his vote correctly![]()
On Friday the results are out for the Best Beard in Parliament. Although Jezza's favourite, he voted for Liz Truss.![]()
Actually he got his papers mixed up meaning he finished up voting for Dianne Abbott and offered Liz Truss a role in setting new Labour policies.![]()
Yes John, awful wasn't it?!! No doubt she'll now be safely ensconced at LibDem HQ, practicing her lines and learning the phrases which politicians like to use to wriggle out of ligtimate but embarrassing questions;
How can this be described as any form of Brexit?
Because the UK would not be a member of the EU anymore. It is that simple.
Meanwhile, on a happier note, looks like everyone will have to carry an ID card. No point just for UK EU residents, someone not supposed to be here can reply to "excuse me Mr Zyzyolski, have you any ID" with "No, I'm a UK citizen, I don't have to carry any".
Hmmm.
It is just non-UK, but EU citizens who have the right to live here who are proposed to have the ID card.

just to keep a few Bulgarians and Romanians out??
Leeds is full of Yorkshiremen as it is, that's bad enough *natural dig from someone the right side of The Great DivideSo it will be like the case of the British born Asian man of Pakistani descent who had no passport and the Home Office threatened to send back home to India!
It would be a huge U turn for the Conservatives to introduce a national ID card after all the fuss they made getting rid of Gordon Brown's scheme.

Don't forget all those people from Montenegro who Leave told us will come over when they join the EU, despite the population of Montenegro being less than the population of Leeds!

Just wish we would let in a few more Estonians - I could do with a bride!!
