To the OP, put it this way: there is absolutely zero chance of it being repainted into Intercity livery, modified or not modified. I think we'd all prefer it to be painted into the current NXEC livery with EC branding as opposed to EC livery to stop it being the odd one out, and even though NX have actually stopped painting trains in that livery it *could* be possible - but I don't know. Personally I'd say giving it a Mallard interior is the priority though..

pictures on my flickr - had a run form York to Kings Cross the other day.

Strange, cheap hybrid livery. I also wonder if the engines will be changed to MTU to keep the fleet as one

I had a look through your pictures very nice!

I think the engines may stay VP185's until the next franchise probably!

Current plan is to keep the VP185s, whether that will change in the future or not is debatable..

Why would a mallard interior be a priority though? the original ones are pretty nice?

I wasnt seriously suggesting a swallow livery, however looking back I should have made more of a differance between what I think will happen, and what I would like to happen.

I guess NX livery is most likely, unless the new EC has its own livery in mind?

To bring the set up to spec with the rest of the East Coast HST fleet. It’s the interior of the train that passengers notice most, and the ex-EMT HST is a pretty big odd one out in that respect.

Indeed, the interior is where passengers spend their time, they only have to look at the exterior very briefly! ;)

As far as I'm aware the current silver/grey livery will be the default livery for any potential new operator that may takeover in the future. :)

Ill agree, it is different, But I wouldnt say its any worse than the mallard interiors . Maybe in second some High backed seating could improve the experience, and wall sockets, but the First carriages are fine as they are :)

It's definitely worse, it's a 70's design and it looks it. Not a scratch on the Mallard interiors, and that's excluding the extra features that are missing i.e power sockets etc.

I have to say i hope they keep the EMT HST like this as it is far more comfortable

presumably the different interior, with different seating layout, screws with the seat booking system?
