No training wages!..how are all the trainees suppose to pay these bills for ever how long to training lasts ?

Im hoping what he means is where other companies knock your wages down while you are training EMT put you straight in at a normal rate.

MDD stands for Maintenance Depot Driver. It is what this role in question is.

Having no training rate is not uncommon in MDD roles. In Northern there is no training rate, you go onto full pay from day 1 of your training. A trainee MDD at Northern is on a 34k basic from the beginning.

hi, I know this isn't the correct thread, but I wondered if anyone on here works for EMT? I am looking to get into the maintance side and wonder when the next set of recruitment would likely to be? I understand there was a big one last year. Are there any plan for one this year?

I am still waiting to be allotted a stage 2 place having passed stage one on 17th Jan. EMT HR as of yesterday are still waiting for the stage 2 assessment provider to allocate more slots for those still to attend stage two.
It could be that once everyone has attended stage 2 then people will be notified as they will have a better idea of who they want.
But that is just a guess.
Does anyone know how many they need or when the course starts?

Had a letter from EMT telling me that I'm in the talent pool for stage 2 until 4th August.
They say they had an exceptionally high pass rate for stage 1 and had too many candidates for places on stage 2. They say candidates where randomly selected and loaded onto the stage two process and the rest are waiting in the talent pool.

They say they have enough candidates to be going on with so I suppose it's wait and see if another vacancy arises.

Could be better, could be worse.

Well firstly had to pee in a bottle for drugs and alcohol then had my eyes tested.then went into a booth to have my hearing checked over, well after I sat there for 5 mins not hearing oat to then find out the machine was broke! Lol.
All that was with the nurse.
Then after a wait I went in to see the doctor who checks ya ankles,liver...that's it really with him.being cheeky I asked if I passed it all and he said yes.so it's up to east midlands now.
You should be ok with stage 2.I thought it was easier then 1.

What was involved? Hope its not too long of a wait for you.

Im still waiting for stage 2 results

If anyone is still waiting for results I suggest giving emt a call, I did the MMI two weeks ago today and I called them this morning to find out I had passed! :) just waiting for a date for the managers interview now!
Hope you all get the news you're hoping for! :)

Mine will be 2 weeks on Friday, so if not heard anything by then will give them a ring.

Hope you don't have to wait to wait long for your interview.

Yeah probably a good idea mate, nope didn't have to wait long at all, about 3 hours infact, they rang me and I've got my managers interview on Thursday morning which I am absolutely dreading!

Hopefully it all goes as well as the MMI

Let us know when you find out your result, I'm sure it will be good news!

Lots of nail biting and X-Factor style pauses!

Dynamonic posted a pretty comprehensive summary of what's involved earlier in this thread.

Yeah that is better than what I could put and is bang on accurate. There isn't a lot you can revise for just stay calm and listen to the instructions is the best bit of advice I can give.

Looking at the comments above, I feel myself very lucky to be starting my training on the 24th Feb, anyone joining me on that day?

I was contacted Saturday, 2 days after my managers interview informing me that I hadn't been successful. I feel so gutted that I mucked it up on the final hurdle! :( oh well I'm going to ring for some feedback and keep trying. Good luck to everyone still in the process!

Sorry to hear that. Do you lose one of your two lives for not passing the manager interview? I hope you haven't and good luck in the future.

Well when I spoke to EMT they said that it doesn't count as losing a life and because i've passed all the assessments with the OPC I won't have to do them again in the next 5 years if I was to apply for another role.

I asked about the 6 month rule and they said that failing the managers interview doesn't come under that as that is just an interview to join the company and not a part of the assessment process.

I tried to apply for the Trainee role with Southern earlier today and it wouldn't let me proceed because I had failed a part of the recruitment process with another TOC in the past 6 months so i'm not sure if this is just their policy of if this applies to all TOC's.

Can anyone shed anymore light on the situation??
