EMT 43 with EC Stock

Hello,

This evening I saw a EMT HST with East Coast set heading North bound.

Anyone know why it was a EMT 43 and not the usual East Coast 43?

43045 due to a power car shortage, happens every now and again. An EMT power car reached Aberdeen earlier in the year.

Do East Coast drivers have to maintain different traction knowledge for the EMT HSTs? I only ask because, of course, they have different engines.

No they dont have to maintain different knowledge, East Coast drivers will have been issued with a brief (document) highlighting the differences. Running gear is the same across the fleet but there are differences with brakes/parking brakes stuff.

I'm more used to seeing an EMT set with EC logos, but I thought that all 43s have been rebuilt with MTU engines.

It doesn't, and it didn't when you made this post (the article's not been edited in 4 days).

There's a detailed TOC by TOC description of the engine situation, and in the infobox at the top of the article next to "Prime Mover" it clearly states "Paxman 12VP185 or MTU 16V4000 R41R".
