Perhaps a more local stopping variant. Flixbus has hardly set the heather alight on the 090 route. The 900 is best suited as a high frequency turn up and go route.

A route out of East Kilbride, perhaps it could start from Ayr. You never know.

It will operate out of Livingston and it's coming in the near future drivers have said.
Should never believe everything drivers tell you, they could just be feeding wibble to enthusiasts to wind them up.

It wouldn't surprise me if it does come. It's one of Citylink's highest-earning routes, which is probably why Stagecoach kept hold of it when they moved to the West Coast Motors yard.

Direct competition, or some kind of alternate route? There's currently about 4 citylink an hour and 1-2 flix an hour so directly competing would be much higher risk and bigger budget than their previous ventures. I guess it is very profitable but I would expect a different route choice.

People on here seem to have a habit of earwigging into drivers chatting and taking it as gospel and then posting it on here as facts. The only way anyone will know if it's happening or not is when it's officially announced by the company.

It's not registered yet anywhere as a bus service AFAIK so we don't know for sure yet. 
I'm guilty of being that driver who makes things up knowing a bus spotter is nearby! I've even seen one story posted in this thread about an Ayrshire service within half an hour or me mentioning it to another driver in front of one such spotter

I would hardly call the E17 (if that's what you're referring to) out of the box given it stops at almost identical stops and times to the existing X7 service.
If they were truly interested in improving connectivity between lesser served settlements then they wouldn't be running 10 minutes either side of an existing service.

I was more thinking of the E11 Via Braemar. and the Own goal by Stagecoach was the E1 extension to Aberdeen via Forfar and Brechin. As you say they not really truly interested in improving connectivity.
It's the same with many of the services they run near enough identical times to Citylink and Stagecoach but this causes issues with the likes of the E5 running the same time as Citylink as your following the other service both of you can't serve many of the stops at the same time as only one vehicle fits. Downright stupid and dangerous especially on the A82 and ember don't care about it as it was brought up to them last year and fell on deaf ears. Same issue with the 10 minutes booking windows if there is a passenger booked and service is running 10 minutes early it cannot wait at many stops due to no safe stops to wait that amount of time again fell on deaf ears and I know a few passengers who have been left stranded because of this.

I think going straight up against the 090/900 would be rather silly. If however they can make an Edinburgh to Glasgow service that has other decent unique links (as well as being competitive end to end) then maybe there is a way for them. But I think as Flix are proving, you won't win just by duplicating over the 900 without a LOT of fight.

The 900 is so many people’s turn up and go bus, with a frequency of every 12 mins now, and been their routine for years and wouldn’t think to change.

They'll probably serve the Heartlands stop and Deer Park or might even detour through Armadale or Bathgate and serve those towns

I'm someone who would love this and I can see Deer Park and Heartlands but Armadale or Bathgate would be too much of a detour, perhaps Whitburn?

Possibly go the Calders and call in at Hermiston P&R before hand then Sighthill and Saughton way then along the West Approach Road into the City Centre
Said when FlixBus started someone could perhaps make success doing Calder Road then along the A71 to Livingston, either stop at The Centre and then join the motorway at J3A or skip the Centre and stop at the three fast link stops and join at J3. This would give a good chunk of Livingston fast connections to the College/Universities.

I'd never noticed it but would definitely make use of it, usually making at least one Ember trip per month now.
E15 appears to be doing well with tourists on it's first day. Approximately 20 people boarding on or off between Edinburgh and Callander, only a few doing the full length to Oban it seems, though I'm only going as far as Crianlarich so I could be wrong
