There is a post going around on X/Twitter stating that the OHLE wires have been melted, and a signalling substation has been taken out. I believe the fire is next to a GSK factory as well, so not the most ideal location...
Anyone considering travelling on East coast Mainline Services should make alternative arrangements. A CODE BLACK Status has been declared due to a major fire incident at Stevenage Overhead Wires have melted and taken out a signalling sub station. Nothing is moving, trains halted

It's a mere cable fire, overheads turned off so the fire brigade could attend. There's been a tripping that may or may not be related, but nothing more.
A major lineside fire in Stevenage (appears to be near the junction by the GSK Factory) means no trains are blocked on both the Hertford North and ECML…
Just watched one of the much-vaunted on here Lumo trains dump all its passengers in Peterborough… ticket acceptance as far as Doncaster(with LNER)if you can get on… what next if you’re for Newcastle/Scotland?

Avanti West Coast services between London Euston and Manchester Piccadilly
TransPennine Express services between Manchester Piccadilly/Leeds and Hull and Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield/Doncaster.
LNER services between Peterborough and Doncaster.
East Midland Railway services between Sheffield and London St Pancras
Northern services between Doncaster and Leeds.
So it'll be a long way round for customers between London and Scotland!
How are they expected to get to London? There’s no ticket acceptance on XC to access the Pancras or Liverpool St routes… no dump them in Peterborough and hope they pay more…

The train can not get to London. So the train can not run.
It will be exactly the same as with LNER, Hull and GC.
The customers *should* get the option of returning north, to a suitable station where acceptance with other operators allows them to continue there journey on operators accepting tickets
It isn’t just Lumo in this situation it is every operator that uses the ECML. But yes let’s just focus on Lumo as it is Open Access.

although Avanti ticket acceptance is only as far as Manchestet, I’m on a Euston-Birmingham-Edinburgh (over-)full of East Coast passengers. It’ll be a brave TM telling them all to get off at Crewe …

Is this the point to ask if the ETCS signalling remained functional while the classic cabling was in meltdown?
Not that today's regular services could use it.

It's a bit rubbish, but there's very little spare capacity on Peterborough-Ely (5 already busy carriages an hour, with an extra 4 every other hour) and even less on Peterborough-Leicester (3 already busy carriages an hour) so practically speaking you can't realistically try to put trainloads of extra people on those routes.
1Z95 departed from Peterborough heading north and is showing as running to Edinburgh, plan was term NCL to form 1S97, unless things have changed. Where are you seeing it cancelled except for a path on RTT, as the other path showing it running is in there?
5E84 is off the terminated 1E84 and is returning to Heaton. (That is, or was the plan, but obviously things change).
