It'll be at least 3 hours 10 minutes late.

*Most obvious statement of the year award. :D :D

The poor people on the train waited over an hour a bit south of Potters Bar. :o

According to EC, the next Edinburgh/ Newcastle train behind isnt until the Edinburgh service that was due in at 2144.
Whats happened to all the Edinburgh/ Newcastle trains that are due in between 1903 and 2144? Are they the ones terminated further north?

There's a Newcastle (the 1946 arrival) due in about 10, I understand.

Our train looks pencilled in as the 2135 to Leeds, although who knows what'll become of that.

This is almost exciting, but in a very awful way. Gosh we're a bit sad :D.

If anyone is stuck at Kings Cross, you wouldn't happen to be able to tell us which set is parked up in Platform 8 could you? :)

An Edinburgh (the 1955) is due in at 2235.

Ah yes, the arrivals boards are adding more trains by the minute.

Some day soon, we are going to need to find out what DVT we are following!!

I don't bother with EC wifi. I just plug my BlackBerry in and put maps on and choose "my location" -of equal quality of this app. Good work!

Our illustrious train is now doing 123mph through Hitchin - don't know what service (presumably heavily delayed) it's operating... :)

It's on the move again just north of Sandy and me thinks that it's forming the heavily delayed (117 mins at the moment) 1D33 service to Leeds (due 00:03 though unless HS2 has opened early that's not going to happen).

Edit: Getting a possible arrival time of 01:30ish. I would guess that it's going to get to go to Neville Hill tonight seeing as it's due in Platform 9 at Leeds (through road) and hasn't been to a depot since at least Friday into Saturday night.

Well I didn't see it actually go to Neville Hill at any point, but it's back in Leeds and can't be in platform 9 (as it isn't going to Aberdeen), so it looks likely. I'm thinking the 0715 to KGX.

Yup, there we go.

It's 1A09, ie this one.

God they work their stock hard...

[In case anyone cares, my previous post was at 0712 :D]

I was wondering that too, in fact I'm surprised that at least one person on this forum hasn't been able to identify it for us as of yet. I wonder if its' the "Flying Scotsman" branded DVT, 82205? It would certainly make it easier to find that elusive set which works pretty much anything except its' namesake service!

And now for a change of scenery (I was getting board with the constant shuttles between KGX and LDS ;)) it's forming 1N12 to Newcastle (due 13:45) and currently 3 down through Grantham.

Sorry if this has already been asked but what do we know what set this is?

No we don't, if anyone is in Newcastle at about 13:45 would they mind popping over to platform three and telling us which DVT is there

Wait a second, don't East Coast trains to bradford go into Forster Square, which is the northern station of the two?
The map appears to show the route into Bradford Interchange as part of the East Coast Network, have I just made a stupid mistake or that an oversight? Oh and the map appears to show the Skipton service terminating at Shipley :\

Otherwise its fun chasing this mysterious DVT up and down the line.

My money is on this forming the 1425 NCL to KGX next, if anyone is considering going to chase it... :D

You are correct EC call at Forster Square not Interchange as only Forster Square has wires.

Though until the May 2011 timetable change they were all run by diesels anyway...

I was under the impression that it was the Skiptons that were run exclusively by HSTs and that at least one of the Bradfords was 225?

Ah, could be. I've only been getting the ex-Bradford trains regularly since the timetable change speeded them up and the trains after and before got slower.

They (well, BR) used to run diesels from the Interchange years ago if that helps :)

I've gone back and had a look at some pre-May timetables and the Forster Square's were all booked to be 225s. I would guess that the change occurred around 1994 as that's when the wires reached Forster Square, but I'm happy to be corrected on that point.

As an aside the timetables also reminded just how extensive EC's catering used to be for all passengers compared to now :(

Well anyway, this looks very much like it is indeed the 1425 off Newcastle, due in Kings Cross at 1744.

So in that case, my money is on it next forming the 1819 to Newcastle. Either that or the 1830 to Edinburgh. We shall see. It could be anything :D.

On a side note, if the OP is interested I can probably provide a kml file of all the routes mentioned in question. Don't know if that would help in any way.
