Indeed. Really pleasedHow nice to see such a sensitive approach to the bridges.
Average with things now.Everything seems to take longer just now. The Aurs Road project for example, now not expected to be completed until next Summer!
Unless its a case of under promise over deliver?Given the rate of progress it’s hard to believe we are over a year from completion of the project. The track lowering which has been suggested must be fairly extensive.
I was hoping that too. Having been badly burned by rail projects going massively over budget that sounds like a sensible approach if true.Unless its a case of under promise over deliver?
How are they getting away without lifts at Busby?![]()
A few new images added to the 'Major works along the route 2024' section including:
- 2 images of artists impression of Busby station with a new footbridge without lifts.
- An image showing the reconstruction of the bridge at Westerton Lane.
- Finally an artists impression of Giffnock with an all access footbridge installed.
Presumably because there is step-free access otherwise, albeit via a detour along the EK Road and under the railway line to get to the opposite side. How are they getting away without lifts at Busby?

You also don't gives contractor a deadline (entire artificial) that they can then use to escalate cost. If they see lots of extra time has been given between public completion dates and dates they see internally they get the message very quickly.I was hoping that too. Having been badly burned by rail projects going massively over budget that sounds like a sensible approach if true.
That seems like a bit of a mistake in the designs in my opinion - the East Kilbride Road is very narrow under the bridge and there's nowhere easy to cross. At Clarkston there's actually a fairly suitable way around, but they're adding lifts to Clarkston and not Busby? I do wonder if there might be space constraints though.Presumably because there is step-free access otherwise, albeit via a detour along the EK Road and under the railway line to get to the opposite side.
Really? Oh well..decent chance I'll have finally rebuilt my bike to take advantage of it by the time it does openEverything seems to take longer just now. The Aurs Road project for example, now not expected to be completed until next Summer!
I'll keep my eyes peeled for an update of when it's removed. Using the access gate at the end of Mast Lane will be interesting once the bridge has gone as the only turning space is on the other side of the bridge!the only other OB is OB31 at the end of Mast Lane. Told that this is to be removed but is not being reinstated. This is mich to the chargran of the locals and the Riding School as it is a nice circuit to use.
Yes. The non railway public are frustrating at times. Can't believe the amount of negative posts on social media where this info has been shared. Think they expect the line to be upgraded by waving a magic wand
See post #2179Has the bridge at Thorntonhall had its tracks lowered or just the parapet wall raised in height?
Thanks but that's for thornliebank, I was asking about thorntonhall and the road bridge at the station.See post #2179
Sorry miss read the post wrong glasses on. Just the parapet, certainly at the moment. Not heard anything about track lowering there. The Fenwick Road bridge has some markings on the sleepers on either side of it which may indicate some work to be done there but nothing at Thorntonhall a couple of weeks agoThanks but that's for thornliebank, I was asking about thorntonhall and the road bridge at the station.
Also now installed from The Run Off at Busby Junction Right up to the Thornliebank Road bridgeSome wires are up. The return conductor / earth (not sure what it’s called now) is in place from Clarkston heading towards Busby.
