Interesting! So there will be, I believe four trains which will depart under the old franchise and arrive after the transfer has taken effect! Perhaps the crews will make some kind of announcement en route, trying to keep their barely-contained glee and relief in check.

The 1950 Glasgow Central to York service (2100 off Edinburgh) will be an NXEC service until it gets to (roughly) Thirsk.

The passengers will be celebrating as well! Good ridence to a dreadful operator, just hope they don't come back! I was celebrating hard when they lost the East Midlands franchise only to return with the same **** on the East Coast. Hopefully free of them forever now!

As the company running the trains will be Directly Operated Railways Ltd, I would suspect they will use www.directlyoperatedrailways.co.uk which has already been registered by the DfT.

Yes and a re-paint and re-branding would improve the reputation of the franchise, the IC liveries always proved a popular livery.

I have been informed today that the orange doesn't look too good on the GNER liveried sets but ok on the re-liveried NX ones. Also the 'dot to dot' has to be removed from latter as is a registered trademark.

National Express never had the 'East Midlands' franchise, they had both the Central and Midland Main Line franchises. Midland Mainline was pretty universally loved I thought, and Central was a really good franchise fraught with stupid management problems. I'd gladly have them both back.

BRB (Residuary) Ltd., surely? Either way, they had no issue with the privatised TOCs using it; the last unit to be painted (an EMT 153 in SuperSprinter Regional Railways livery) was only given its new colours last year!!

You are been pedantic, but I will let you off here. I would also rather have the "Central" franchise area back, but not with National express running it down. A lot of useful direct routes have been lost as a result of the XC, MML an Central changes with passengers losing in most instances. It would be lovely to travel from Lincoln - Birmingham on a direct train again!

When people complain about stagecoach been worse, they are normally complaining about the lack of coaches on services. But that is national expresses fault as they were so incompetatant they provided DfT the wrong numbers for the amount of passengers using the route. As a result the East Midlands franchise wasn't given enough coaches.

National Express while they were running it down, often turned round Norwich - Liverpool services at Ely and Warrington causing passengers massive delay. As for Sunday - you just dare not travel. Both of these are a lot better now than national express could ever be bothered to provide. Sorry you have yet to convince me that national express are capable of running a TOC. I will conceed that the way Central, MML and XC were split up was wrong, but that doesn't take away that national express was totally incompetant at running Central. It didn't exactly set MML on fire, for many years it was the worse rated IC TOC.

Well Nov 13th is the date that NX leave the ruined East Coast in tatters, has been confirmed in writing to a NX colleague so come next Saturday every employee on the route will be celebrating!!!

Was supposed to be December but the notice is there in black and white that the 13th Nov is the last day of NX operation.

. Sorry you have yet to convince me that national express are capable of running a TOC. .

Don't forget, NX used to run the Wessex Trains franchise until that became part of the Greater Western franchise. About the only good thing they did was run 2x31s & 4 Mk2s on Bristol-Weymouth services during the summer and on Brighton-Bristol services on Fridays. I can't say I miss their pink & silver 158s either - who thought having pink as the main interior colour would appeal to passengers??

The Wessex franchise was fantastic in the south west, they really did try to connect into and out of the express trains and the Cornish branches had the best service possible with the stock available. The staff were happier than they are now. The Wessex franchise put the passengers first nothing wrong with that.
