How is the LUAS Cross City line proceeding ? I note you are a tram driver with connections to the Red Line.

Hi Paul.
The cross city line is currently under construction having passed all planning permissions and have the backing and funding from the Government.
Contruction on the Bridge crossing the Liffey connecting the lines has been in progress for some time. (it will probably be named the Tony Gregory Bridge, postumously after an Independant member of government who worked on behalf of the North Inner City residents prior to his death three years ago)
As part of the process some underground cellars are being filled with concrete to support the rail tracks as we speak.
The line os expected to be opened by 2017.

How much training do drivers get before they can take passenger trams as from using them daily, some drivers just go for it and other are to slow and a little nervous.
Hello.
Driver training for Tram Drivers initially is 8 weeks from beginning stage to taking passengers.
Drivers are not under obligation to speed but must remain within the speed limits set.
There are different driving styles as with any mode of transport driver and the result is usually that they will all arrive +2 or -2 minutes according to timetable which runs at a 98% average.
Although it may appear that some drivers are slower they are usually the ones with shorter platform stops and regulate their speed whereas some drivers drive at the maximum speed limit allowed whilst making longer platform stops.
The end result is the same in most cases.
