Doncaster Yard Pilots

Can any one tell me which locomotives are working as yard pilots in Doncaster? I thought I saw a silver 08 with a name but couldn't make it out. I thought DB had gone to a policy of using the train engine to shunt

I thought that too - Indeed the plan was to use 66s or 60s to shunt, but the Eastleigh 08 hasn't disappeared and seems to be more active this year than that of this time last year!

Can't help you with the 08 though - Could it be one of the 'Euro Cargo Rail' coloured ones EWS repainted a while back or is that dumped in Toytown?

No, both are stored (at Toton) and were recently put up for sale by DBS.

DBS took all their 08s/09s out of service for a bit as a trial but then re-instated a large number of them a month or two later.

Does anyone know where else they are still working. I know there are two at the RTC and Laira still seems to have a couple

Doncaster Wabtec/West Yard has the shunters regularly shuffling around, both 08669 and 08724 were busy shunting there on Tuesday, with 08401 stabled.

The list you posted is fantastic. I am not to worried about preserved examples but was interested in the remaining "wild" examples of a once widespread fleet.

If anyone can add to the list fantastic but lets not make it a criticism of someoneelse helpful work!

08611 is at Longsight, not Edge Hill, been there a while.
There are 2 black ones at Craigentinny, didn't spot those on the list.
08472 is one of them, I think they may be hired in ones.

Ilford has 08573 which has recently been joined by 08700. This is supposedly to there is a spare in the event of failure but expect it won't be long until both are running around at the same time.
