Does your life revolve around the railways?

Just a question for you guys....

Speaking to someone tonight, (wont name names, they will most likely make themselves known) but I said *London tomorrow!!*

The replies I got were something along the lines of:

There aren't any thumpers, no valentes, no VEPs, and a load of other random stuff.

I explained that I was only going because I was going shopping, and my sister had a modelling interview

It just seems to me that a lot of peoples lives revolve around the railways - e.g. they wont go anywhere, unless its something to do with the railway...

Does this apply to any of you lot?

To answer the question, no my doesn't. Trains in my life have been on the decline. Last month I only went out once to 'bash'/phot. When I used to go out 4 times or more a month. Less to do I guess.

Sadly, no Heard lots about him though. Prof Payne is, and it's still great fun Unlike Block 1 with the rather dull coagulation labs and 2 hour cell lectures, we have smaller one hour "resource" lectures that actually are really interesting and cadaverous dissection The PBLs are pretty good as well, and we've been to Hospital and GP. Not bad for 2 months in, I don't think.

I haven't been out photting for about 2 months. My life is definitely less railway-orientated since I started working with the bleeding things.

Depends which hospital and also what they let you see. Some are good, others less so....

Id also say no the railway always seems to be a part time thing but the main parts of my life is University,family,girlfriend,friends,Photography,skateboarding and trains obviously in no particular order.
Apparently a geology student isn't allowed to haver a life that doesn't revolve around rocks so having a railway revolved life wouldn't be the worst thing ever!!

I just want to know if we get a prize if our lives do revolve around railways, and what constitutes it (IE work, purchases of certain magazines, Roger Ford stuck on your ceiling, a class 47 tatooed to the dog, or life long membership of the Skegness and district gricers club, for example).

Okay, okay, I'll admit to having pictures of the west coast main line stuck to my bedroom wall when I was 15, been in therapy ever since, especially when I had to justify it to a normal people that has pop stars and footballers stuck to theirs, as their obsessions are more valid than mine. Said so in the Sun, so must be right.

PS no, have lots of interests, like most other people. Its only sad when life doesn't inspire you at all. The only things I don't like is medical stuff and celebrity crap. Again, like most people opportunity, time and money dictates a lot.

Nothing wrong in having pictures/posters of something other than pin-ups, football teams etc. up on thy wall, IMO! 8)

I'm not one for posters and don't really have any time for home improvements and interior decorating anyway, but if I had the resources the media on my walls would probabally include:

• Map of Europe (Showing civilisations and religious followings) as it stood in 900CE,
• Various texts concerning most aspects of Ancient Norse life, culture and mythology...Scribed in the original Elder FuÞark, of course!
• Detailed maps of all intercity bus, rail, air and sea routes throughout the whole of Europe,
• Complete small-scale circuit diagrams of a standard Athlon64 CPU and generic ATX motherboard,
• Uncensored poster-prints of various Gory scenes from most 60's and 70's Horror movies...

Indeed...In my own view, having something other than the usual Miss 90's pin-ups and [Insert favourite team here] tournament victory photos on ones wall shows that they're not a part of the whole run of the mill society! 8)

I spend most of my weekends at the GCR but on the other hand that's as much a social thing as anything else with some really good mates - you tend to find if you're really committed you'll pick up friends all over the shop - at other railways, other departments etc who you relate to as much as outside railways as inside - Mr Tom Nick's wedding showed what a real cross section of people who come together that really is!

I also met my first 'serious' partner on the railway.

So no, I'd say my life isn't ruled by the railway but that I'm very fond of my own little aspect of it (which has never involved platform ending or photography).

I might be doing a London meet late December / early January.

Not really 'revolving' but they do play a major part in my life. I use them for actually getting to places too, not just on bashes etc.

I wouldn't say that my life revolves around railways, but I have been influenced by many people in the railways, mainline CMEs and that kind of stuff. My Engineering Diploma is fueled by the aspect of working on or around railways and equipment.
I think my like atm revolves around girls!!
My bedroom is full of a lot of stuff, I have a set of shelves with my railway models, and on the wall next to it some railwayana, but the main theme is the big Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire bus stop poster, and the Doctor Who posters plastered around the room!! My room is entirely white, which does help when I'm photographing models or things like that!!
