http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KJD-5gZasTM the traction motors sound really messed up on this! Does anyone know what may have caused it?
Ah right, westcoaster. The unit was on its own, just 465917, so there may be other reasons for the jolt, but you know more than me, so I wont try and think of them. hehe
Thanks for the info
jolt could have from taking power while going through a gap in the 3rd rail, but im 100% its the wsp cutting power to the motors
Do Networkers have WSP?
Do 319s have WSP?

That vid of the 171, there's nothing wrong with it, that's normal of Turbostars, as I heard that on FSR 170s when I was living up in Scotland. It's a fan unit of some sort I think, either to do with the engine cooling, or for the airconditioning/heating.
Not necessarily, like I said, the FSR 170s do it all the time. It don't run all the time, same principle as car engine, comes on when needed.
But if you want hear dodgy units...
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9K9JJlVu7Xw&feature=related the first 171 sounds a bit... not normal....
At worst, that sounds like a worn bearing in the fan. nothing major.
It can happen on any unit.
