The is an offence of "wanton or furious cycling" (S35 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861) that can (and has been) used in such cases.

North Camp has a level crossing which is still in use, although the main reason for it being there is so that it can be used by pedestrians & cyclists to cross from one platform to the other. As back in the 90's when they were spending millions building the A331 they appear not to have wanted to fund a footbridge with lifts for the station.

I see that the yellow lights are on at the level crossing. Move forward and the red lights are on, go across the crossing and look back to the crossing and the red lights are still showing, keep going and the barriers come down. So clearly the Google car went through with the red lights showing!

I was going to point that one out - it would appear they sneaked across the crossing before the barriers came down but the lights were warning...naughty naughty :P

Looking at the side of the road the car is on, the sequence appears to follow with the barriers coming down behind the Google car (also see the truck in front that gets followed through which turns up a side road to the left after the LC)

Are there any in cornwall? The one I can think of is near bodmin (can't remember the name of the village or road) and it still has rails in the road and if you look both ways in a car, you can see the trackbed very clear, the level crossing doesn't have barriers nor lights.

The lights were there for quite a while after it closed but yes, they're all gone now.

There are two disused level crossings in Northampton on the old Bedford/Peterborough lines.

Even when the line was used in the late 80's and early 90's, they didn't use the crossing lights or barriers. I'm not sure the lights and barriers have ever been used?

The crossing at London road was used daily up to early 2000s and i;m pretty sure it was operational yet manually operated. There used to be a working yard here around the time.

As for the brackmills crossing? No idea when that last saw use. this line has always interested me.

Yes, I was referring to the Brackmills LC. I believe it was last used in circa 2000, but even since the 1980's the lights and barriers have not been used; rather staff "flagging" the traffic.

The Bridge Street crossing was last used in... 2005?

Wheelwright Lane level crossing on the Northern Outskirts of Coventry hasn't seen traffic for a few years, use to be used by water trains to access the Holbrooks Prologis Park but nowadays the water goes into Daventry and is taken by road to Prologis.

This also use to be the site of Coventry Colliery and it's associated Homefire Plant and one of the pairs running lines is still embedded in the road surface.

The maps are a little bit out of date there. The track either side of the crossing was lifted last year and all that now remains are the rails through the road crossing.

I think the one Jamieinthecity was thinking of was on the old Wenfordbridge line just north of the Borough Arms, Dunmere on the A389 from Bodmin towards Wadebridge (can't remember how to grab the streetview URL so added a screen grab). I think there was also a crossing very close to the Borough Arms on the lifted line into the SR station at Bodmin. I used to look out for them on holidays in Cornwall back in the 70s. The Wenfordbridge one was still in use back then too so occasionally saw a rake of China clay trucks and a (I think) class 08 crossing - which obviously added a bit of excitement to the day!

Thanks. Memory's not what it used to be! Yes a bridge next to the Borough Arms, but you can see the sign for the crossing for the Wenfordbridge branch just down the hill if you rotate your link.

probably not an abandoned crossing as such (the rails have long gone but the signalbox and station is still extant in some form) is the one over the B1357 at Cowbit in Cambridgeshire on the former GN/GE Joint Line from March to Spalding.

A few crossings I can think of:

A403 St. Andrews Road, Avonmouth, Bristol: has lights but no barriers. Interestingly, on the Docks side of that crossing the signals - SA41 and SA43, shown in the photo here - are still present despite the line having been out of use for some time and, on the Docks side of the crossing, badly overgrown. It would also appear that they have never been turned off as shown in the closeup of SA41:

The land on the southern side of this crossing, down toward Kingsweston Lane, has no track in situ and a building has been errected to house what is, I understand, the largest wine warehouse in Europe. Laughably the arrangements were changed in 2010/11 by which deliveries of wine now arrive into a siding near Parson Street Junction by train and are then taken to the warehouse by lorry. Surely with all the signals and most of the track in situ - there are three signals still present in all - it would have made more sense to reinstate the line over the A403??

Kingsweston Lane, Avonmouth, Bristol is where the line that also crosses the nearby A403 crosses Kingsweston Lane. On the southerrn side of this crossing the track is, I think, still in place. Between Kingsweston Lane and the A403 the track has been lifted and an embankment now covers where it once ran.

Abergarw Road, Brynmenyn has an LC on the disused Tondu - Pontcymer route. Rails also in road plus gates and some lights. There is, I think, another LC on the same line up at Llangeinor not far off the A4064 where the road signals and gates are gone but, on Google Earth, the lights that would have confirmed full function of the LC to the driver are still in place. Up towards Pontcymer the track appears to be clear but I believe there is a preservation project up there.

Signals like this - controlling the exit from an industrial branch/sidings onto the 'main line' - are often left connected. It's a lot cheaper than amending the interlocking and testing it out!

Netherfield Lane Crossing. Track was lifted both sides of the crossing a few months ago.

I mentioned those earlier, but I don't think that the track's linked to the Plym Valley Railway - I think they're for the former Imerys Plant (hence why it's now disused).

The heritage railway is not connected, the line was to some sort of freight terminal.

There is two between Stratton and the Transfer yards junction in Swindon, they are on the old Highworth Line, the tracks all been abandoned for years, but the crossings remain intact, complete with red target boards on the gates. Very odd

I think that silk mills level crossing is still there, on the Great Western main line near Taunton. Gates never opened to road traffic which now passes over a new bridge.

I think that it was/is? used for access by road/rail machines during engineering work.
